anyone with other children at home nervous to go into labor on xmas

So obviously most important to me is that this baby is healthy and everything goes great. I just can't help having anxiety about going into labor xmas eve.  I have 2 boys at home 4 and 7 and Id be so upset to not be with them xmas morning.  Im due 1/3 so hopefully Ill make it past xmas. Anyone else?

  • Im due christmas eve, and have a three year old.this year he actually undrrstands what christmas is about. I really dont want to be in the hospital on christmas but the only on that decides that is the little girl inside me. If i am in the hospital we just hope to make the best of it amd explain to our son that we are being blessed on a very special day.

  • I am due the 19th I have been freaking out over this too. I have a 5 year old DD. What we are going to do if LO comes on xmas or xmas comes and we are at the hospital, we will have DD stay with her Grammy And Pop and open all her gifts from there since Santa stops there too. Then we will have xmas at our house when we get home and say Santa came when she was at Grammys. DH will set everything up under the tree.
  • This was/is a factor in planning my RCS.  I'm due 12/27.  I had originally planned my C-section for the 26th, but got nervous that I might go into labor on the 24th or 25th and miss Xmas (I have 2 boys....2 and 6 years).  So, I switched my RCS to the 22nd and my OB said I only had to stay til the 24th.  Obviously that is if everything goes well and there are no complications.

~after 34 cycles we finally got our 2nd little bundle of joy~

  • Yes I am. My first was due Jan 12th and born 2 weeks early on Dec 30th. My second was 5 days early. I'm due Jan 4th so there's a good chance Baby could arrive on Christmas or sharing a birthday with my son.

  • Well I'm actually having a c section on the December 23...so I'll be in the hospital on Christmas. I've talked with my son (he is 8) he understands. Hopefully you will be okay until then:)
  • Haha! Me too! I've been trying to figure out what we would say to our 4 year old. Of course I really just want him to be healthy, but still!
  • I would have dh be home and do presents with them.  I would just hate to miss it.  But I guess if its mean to be...
  • My mom is the 3rd of 3 children and her birthday is Christmas Day. It hasn't seemed to scar her two older siblings in any way. What better Christmas present could anyone want? And what a memorable Christmas it would be for your family.
  • The only concern I have is going into labor during Christmas & having a lousy hospital staff lol. My doctor already commented that no one wants to deliver on Christmas so I should be prepared to try to get rushed out of yhe hospital by the nurses. He is Jewish so he doesn't celebrate Christmas. We don't have a religion & we don't celebrate any holidays either. Our 1 year old daughter will be staying at my mums while my husband & I are at the hospital. I'm 41 weeks & 4 days today so with the luck I've been having most likely it will be Christmas when I go into labor haha.
  • That was my worry two years ago.   I was due 12/26 and DD was 2.  I put aside gifts that DD could open with my parents if we were in the hospital and gifts she would open with us when we got home.  Luckily DS came on 12/29, so it ended up being a non-issue.
  • I'm not due until 1/9, but I'm still a little nervous. We have TONS of family Christmas events. The kids are super excited. My brother's family and my parents are staying here from the 24th through the 28th and another brother & his wife are also staying one night. We're hosting Christmas for one side of the family on the 26th and having a game day on the 27th at our house. My last two babies were mid-Dec and I am looking forward to getting through the holidays and enjoying them with the "big kids" PRE-baby. So, I definitely don't want to be sitting in the hospital for three nights after my C-section while all the festivities are going on (many at my house!). Plus, I'm just not ready for Baby at all.

I think odds are good now that I will make it through, and am only 37.5 weeks, but still just a little nervous.
