Free breast pump!

im just so excited (and surprised) about this I had to share! My doctor gave me a prescription at my 30 week appointment for a double electric breast pump since I told her I will have to go back to work full time 6 weeks after the baby arrives. I thought I would have to pay a small amount and insurance would cover the rest. Well, I called my insurance company to ask how to get the breast pump prescription filled and they told me it would be covered at 100% with no deductable and no co pay. Wow! They sent me to the Medela website and I called their number to order it. I ended up needing my doctors office to call them because Medela needed my doctors NPI# (I don't know what that is) and they wouldn't allow me to have it. So my doctors office called for me and Medela called me back and I ordered the pump! It should be arriving on Tuesday! For free!

If you plan to pump after baby arrives at work and can't imagine paying close to $400 for a good pump, ask your doctor!

  • I'm just so excited about it! And I didn't know this was part of the affordable care act
  • Not for everyone. Gotta love those grandfathered in plans.
Right?! Though word on the street is Tricare is going to start covering them, so....that might help someone else somewhere. Since I already bought mine.....anyway. The news is your friend.

@irishcurls I am pregnant. I have no time for news. The only news I care about is THIS BABY because he is MY LIFE and NOTHING ELSE NATIONALLY OR GLOBALLY COMPARES. DUH.
    Silly me @dorothygale01. Carry on

I mean I hope my baby doesn't arrive at work and I can make it to a birthing facitility but my coworkers are fairly open-minded so hopefully they don't mind too much if it happens. Also, this is an insurance question, not a doctor question, doctors aren't handing out breast pumps for free.

  • I didn't realize I was going to get negative responses to this post. I do understand not every person's insurance is the same as mine. I just wanted to explain how it worked out for me. Should I not post about things like this?
  • I think it's the way you went about it, actually. Also a good topic for spam.

  • I wish I could delete it :( I don't know how.
  • This is the first time in my life I have ever had to purchase my own insurance. So everything is very new to me. And I honestly did not know a free breast pump was going to be available for me. Honestly. I was just excited. Because we can't afford to buy something like that on our own.

    Qfp.

Her excitement doesn't trump being sensitive to the broad group of ladies who post here. Part of being part of a community is seeing different viewpoints. Everything isn't rainbow and glitter. No one was catty to her, just matter of fact.

You don't need to white knight.

Guess you've been pregnant non-stop for the YEARS that this has been a current event...... Considering this impacts how you deliver your baby, breast pumps and future care for you and your baby, etc, etc, it might be worth paying attention to. Just my two cents!

First off, welcome! Thanks for choosing this for your first post in our community! We just LOVE when a hypocritical stranger comes in and tells us all to shut the fuck up! You're going to love it here, especially since now you've become an established member of Team F15! Please be sure to keep us updated on how the world looks from so high upon your steed and thank you for keeping us in check! I don't know how we survived the past 7-8 months without you! Ladies, clearly we've been living like a bunch of bitchy savages but now our savior is here! Hurrah!

Secondly, we weren't being mean to her AT ALL. All of the responses were very nice to her saying "hey, it's cool. just a heads up for next time" and she didn't get worked up so you don't need to take it upon yourself to do it for her. That's just causing unnecessary drama and if you were so much happier lurking then you probably should have just kept it that way. If we're so awful then why bother making yourself known to us and opening up yourself to our hateful ways? If you've actually been lurking for a while then you clearly understand our reactions to a White Knight and you had to have known what kind of reaction you becoming one would cause.

Get the fuck out. We don't have time for you or your nonsense.

It is not my first post here. I've posted several times but try not to because of responses such as this.

So why would you announce that you don't post? And again, if we're just a bunch of snarky bitches, then why are you still around? Why would you WK on top of all of that if you're aware of "responses such as this" and what should be a clear understanding of our distaste for such actions?

And don't act like you've never thrown any snark into a thread. I seem to have found a post by you in September barking at a woman about getting pissy about responses she was being given. I guess you couldn't just skip over a thread instead of being "caddy" eh?
