Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Introducing first foods!

FTM here and new to this forum! My son is almost 6 months old (on the 23rd), and I breastfeed exclusively. I'm trying to start introducing solid food to him and have only given him a tiny bite of avocado. What other things could I start giving him? Any ideas and help is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Introducing first foods!

  • I just took a little seminar with a dietitian on introducing solids and she recommended starting with meats as they are the highest in iron and 6 months old is when baby's iron stores begin to deplete. My dd is 4 months and we started on rice cereal last week and around 6 months I plan to start with some meats!

    So much different advice!

OP, go with your ideas from research and maybe your pedi. Our pedi says meats after 9 months. I think BLW start earlier than that.

Avocado, sweet potatoes, squash applesauce. Go to wholesomebaby website. It has great info.
