TTC After a Loss

Charters/former charters come in...

Are you charting post m/c? I'm not sure if it's worth it since I don't really sleep through the night - some nights I can and others I can't. And it's not a consistent wake up time or anything unless I take ambien but obviously I won't be taking that once we're trying again. What did you decide to do and why?

Re: Charters/former charters come in...

  • Yes, but we are TTC again right away.  Even if you need to not get pg for a couple of months, charting can help you try to avoid without drugs and help make sure you are ready and aware of what is going on when you start again.  To me though, charting does not stress me out.  It actually helps me feel less anxious because I have more clues as to what is going on in there (for better or worse).

  • I started charting about a week and a half after my D&C because I wanted to see what was going on with my body and if I was O'ing and when.  If you want to get started with it again, it would be okay in the beginning to at least take your temps on the mornings where you would have gotten a decent night's sleep.  It may still help you see some pattern.  GL!
  • I know it sounds stupid but i think i'm going to print out the chart from the bump and buy a basal therm. just to get in the swing of things.  I never did this before my BFP (I was waiting till after the first of the year).  Nothing like practice, plus it will form a habit...
  • I chart.  I also am/was a cervis checker along with OPKs and temping.  I set my alarm for the same time every day and took my temp...just rolled over, took temp and them turned the alarm off...it worked really well and I never really woke up ( I was sure to place my therm in the same place so I could reach over and grab it)

This cycle we used Preseed (2nd cycle on this) as well as Clomid (1st cycle on this)...which made me O this month and now we have a baby coming.  It did take us 7 mo post m/c to concieve this one and we have been at this for over 12 months... don't loose hope!

  • I guess I wasn't real clear in my OP. We are trying again as soon as AF shows but I'm concerned that I don't really ever get 3 hours of straight sleep (unless it's med-induced) so once I stop the meds (when AF shows) I probably won't get 3 hours of straight sleep to temp after. So my question was more is it even worth it to temp if I know I am not sleeping solidly through the ?night?
  • I chart, didn't start until after first AF, we were trying right away but it took a while and an r/x before AF came.  I get up several times a night and have a hard time sleeping, but still think charting provides useful info.  I have been able to clearly tell when I o'ed from my charts.

I guess you won't know unless you try. It might be worth it just to temp for a week or so. If it's too much, you can always stop.

I agree with this. You might be able to develop a pattern based on your sleeping habits.

You know I am/was a very inconsistent sleeper until I finally started charting. I started right after my D&C and it was rough at first and it took me a while to get down my system, but after I did I think I actually sleep better at night. Strange isn't it?

My system is to place my phone with alarm on nightstand so that DH can't change the time on it and to make sure I put my thermometer along side it. I also make sure I go to the restroom at night so that I won't have to wake up  before 6:00am to go.  GL!

  • Thanks ladies! I charted religiously before my BFP so it's not the routine I'm worried about. I guess I'll try it and see if there's any pattern based on my weird sleep habits as of late.?
