Plugged duct, thought cleared, fever

Yesterday I was engorged on one side overnight. I didn't realize until last night I probably have a plugged duct, I thought I just hadn't got that side emptied.

When I realized it was plugged (late evening yesterday), I did warm compress and massage. I pumped. I've been starting baby on that side when nursing.

I don't think I feel engorged on that duct, but it feels bruised so I can't really tell.

How do I know if it's cleared? I woke up with a 101.5 fever and feeling pretty blah.

It sounds like mastitis now so call your MD. Sorry & hope you feel better soon!

ETA continue nursing, warm compresses and massage until you hear from MD or get seen at Urgent Care.

  • I knew I had Mastitis because my whole boob was really red. It looked awful. I don't know if that's the same for everyone, but it was obvious to me when it was. Feel better!

TTC since April 2011. DH Dx MFI in February 2012. BFP #1: 7.16.12. MMC dx: 8.22.12, D&C 8.28.12, TTC Again November 2012. DH Varicocele repair November 2012; Repeat SA showed "dramatic" improvement February 2013 (awesome!)

  • Called my doctor's office. They want to wait and see if it gets worse (pain, redness) before prescribing antibiotics, said it could be a virus.

So now I'm trying the recommendations on KellyMom to see if they help (rest, garlic, vitamin C, motrin).
