Twice Weekly NST's

Hi all,

Forgive me if there is already a post on this, I checked back and haven't seemed to find one.

Anyone else going though twice weekly NST's (non-stress tests) and amniotic fluid ultrasounds? Reasoning behind them - high BP, multiples?

I'm not having multiples however my blood pressure has been "borderline" high during the last two appointments to put me on this regimen now. Only 2 more months of it though, so I guess we can't complain! :)

Re: Twice Weekly NST's

  • I had weekly AFI's for 3 wks due to lowish amniotic fluid found at at growth check but get a 1 week break since my last was at 9.

The ARNP I saw last mentioned doing NST's and BPP's every 1-2 weeks because E is measuring so big. I'm waiting to hear what the doc says next week because this particular nurse has recommended additional testing when its not warrented.

I'm not having to do twice weekly, but starting at 36 weeks I will have to go in for weekly NST's followed 3 days later by a MW appointment. For me it is because of my GD diagnosis.

I think some of the MOM's have had to start NSTs already, but I'm not sure how often they are having them done.

    Good luck!

  • Yes, I will be doing twice daily NST’s starting next week.  Reason being I have gestational diabetes and I am on glyburide for it.  If it was being managed by diet alone, I wouldn’t have to go.  I was discouraged at first because I am at the mercy of the doctor’s schedule and have to take time off of work.  However, better safe than sorry and I want that lil lady of mine to be as healthy as can be.

Are they able to combine some of those appointments.  It sounds like you would be living there.  :(
  • I just started my NSTs today, 32 weeks. Only one a week though with growth scans and checking fluids. Because of hyperthyroidism.

Right now I'm there 2-3 days a week depending on availability. Once they add BPPs I'm pretty sure I will be living there lol

Starting my twice weekly NSTs next week due to high blood pressure. Csection date is already scheduled for 37 weeks if I can maintain stable blood pressures until then. I am also on strict bed rest until delivery (except for the twice a week outings to the doctors)
  • I'm on twice weekly NST's and ultrasounds... I have preterm labor, bleeding, and GD. I also get twice weekly ultrasounds.
  • I have weekly BPP's and start weekly NST's next week (32w) due to iugr. Baby was lagging in size by 13 days at 26 weeks.
