June 2015 Moms

Are you leaning pink or blue and why?

If you don't already know gender, do you have a preference? I go back and forth on this! My daughter is 6, and my son 4. Some days I am wishing for a girl so my daughter has a sister, but then I think it would be nice to have the two youngest the same gender. Thank god it's not my choice!

Re: Are you leaning pink or blue and why?

  • Sometimes I want another girl because I love the name we picked also we have girl clothes etc from our daughter two years ago.my husband is praying for a son he forgets we have a daughter he tries to give her batman stuff or do boy things with her.

  • I want another boy. I love having a son. Our interests are very well aligned - building, trains construction vehicles (i knew them all before he was born bc of my old job), legos, planes and cooking!

As messy as changing his diaper was, I can't imagine changing a girl's! I was a nightmare as a teen, and I don't want to deal with another version of me during puberty.

Plus I have all of DS's clothes, which is a bonus.

H wants a healthy baby. Everyone else in the fam wants a girl.

don't get me wrong, I want a healthy baby too, and I'll love a little girl, but it'll take me a few days to get over the shock if that's what they tell me next week when they call with the Maternitit21 results.

  • I go back and forth.  We are likely only going to have two, so it would be nice for this baby to be a girl so we have one of each.  On the other hand, I love having a little boy and would love for him to have a brother.  It would also be easier b/c they could share a room.  If the baby is a girl, we have to get started on finishing part of our basement so we can move DH's office down there and turn his office into a bedroom.
  • I'm hoping for another girl! I've never had a boy I'm scared silly of little boys lol
  • I have 2 girls and want another girl.
  • This is my first. We are finding out... but just so we know how to prepare. We don't care if we are team pink or blue. When the baby gets older, he/she can choose to partake in whatever activity they want. Sex doesn't dictate toys or activities. We will have just as much fun with either!!

  • I'd like another boy. And because this pregnancy is pretty identical to my DS's I feel like it may be.

I do often wonder what a little girl would be like. I grew up the oldest of 3 girls, so I kind of don't want girl drama! hahah. It'll be wonderful whatever we're blessed with!!!

  • I would love a baby boy. I have had my boy name picked out since I was 12(it's my brothers name who past away so it is very important to me). I'm terrified of having a girl. I know what I was like as a kid and a teenager and just so scared she will be just like me... Boys just seem so much easier! BF wants a girl. I mean I'll totally be happy with a healthy baby! FX we all have lots of healthy babies!!!

  • I don't really have a sex preference. With DD, I definitely wanted a girl. Now that I have one it's so much fun so of course another girl would be a blessing. However, DH desperately wants a son. I want a healthy happy baby over anything!

  • If I got to choose, I'd have these twins be boy/girl so we get the best of both worlds right off the bat. As much as I (obviously) just want them to get here safely and be healthy, part of me really, really wants there to be at least one girl in there. I'm very close with my mother, and she in turn was very close to her mother, and while I'm not saying you can't get that same connection with sons, of course, I'd love to keep it going.

  • We are not finding out but I'm hoping it's a boy. I only had sisters and would really like to have a son but I'm buying everything gender neutral. If it's a girl I'm good with that too. But I'm definitely leaning towards a boy.
  • I'm wishin', hopin', dreamin' and prayin' for a Bouncing Baby Boy! Team blue all the way! I just love the idea of my firstborn being a strapping young man :) (I know, so 17th century of me)

  • We have a girl who will be three and a half when this baby is born. Originally I really wanted another girl, but now I'm really wanting a boy. We find out the day before Christmas Eve!
  • I totally get, you know, "we have a girl already and now would like a boy," but I'm really shocked by how many people just out right prefer boys over girls. The reason just seems to be "oh girls are so hard and boys are so wonderful"... in 2014... surprising.

  • I'm sure everyone on this board is tired of hearing my answer. In a nutshell, I have two daughters and would LOOOOOVE to have a son. I wanted boys before I had any kids, but by this point, I have convinced myself that there is no medical possibility that it could be a boy.

I want a girl - I'm trying to convince myself it's a boy so I don't get disappointed.  We want 3 kids anyway and plan to adopt the third, so it's not like it's a big deal either way.

ETA: last time, I had a vague preference for a boy, and was convinced it was a girl, and I was...  Not disappointed, but saddened by losing the imagined baby.  I really have no inkling which it might be.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that we're all women here? I just see most women saying "I know what I was like, so I want a boy." And in all honesty, I've thought the same thing once or twice. Just about how mean girls can be in school. But, I'm willing to bet if you asked a group of men AND women, men would probably have similar responses regarding girls. Such as "I know how I was growing up, so I'd rather have a little girl." Maybe not.. but just a thought.

  • We're both leaning boy. I can't really put my finger on it, I've just always seen myself as a boy mom, and I think having three boys would be so much fun. And there's also a little bit of fear of the unknown... we're comfortable with boys/know boys/etc. Obviously we'd be thrilled with a girl, but if God told me I had to pick, we'd pick boy.

  • No gender preference. For the sex, if I had to choose, I'd say I want a girl -- I was a firstborn girl, and I loved setting the example for my younger brother.  (And if we're talking difficulty-to-raise, I was by all accounts super easy for my parents. My brother was the one to test all the boundaries that I had obediently followed...)

DH could honestly care less, as long as he can play legos with the kid. :)

  • We're going to happy with any healthy baby.

That said, it's easier for us to visual a boy in our life, just because we're really outdoorsy. (it's just easier to picture a boy playing in the dirt)
And because the couples we know like us - who are older, into outdoor sports and parents of an only - have a boy.

We have a girl (7) and a boy (2). My daughter has a different Dad so it might be nice for my hubby to have a girl who shares his genes but he views my daughter as his own. I love both my kids. My daughter is emotional but can also just sit and talk or play quietly. My son has zero cares and nothing hurts him but dang he is everywhere at once! So we would love either addition but maybe out house would stay a little quieter/cleaner with a girl. We'll see. I can't guess what I'm having because I'm always wrong.
  • I really want two healthy babies! I don't care what they are as long as they are healthy and happy. That being said, I'd love one boy and one girl. I have a 2 year old ds as home, and would love him to have one of each. But I'm going to be blessed by whatever God has in store for me!

  • I want a boy some days and some days a girl. My niece is amazing and I heard girls are easier. My husband wants a boy. He wants a hockey player lol. We were told I had a 80% chance of a boy when I was 14 weeks I'm going in the 30th I will find out for sure
  • I really want a girl. Everyone always touts how much easier boys are than girls and I think that it entirely depends on the personality of the child. Also, I went to an all-girls school for six years. There's not much I haven't seen them say or do, both good and bad.

Boys are so few and far between in my family (about a 5:1 ratio) and I frequently tell DH if it's a boy I'm going need to ask the in-laws how they work   :P

  • While we know we'll be thrilled with either sex, I want a girl and DH wants a boy (I know, how typical...). He says it's because he grew up with all boys and wouldn't know what to do with a girl. For me, it's more cuz I'm super girlie and just love doing girlie activities with my nieces. My nephew is a mystery to me. I'm great with kids but I can never seem to thoroughly entertain this kid unless I'm playing soccer or video games (both of which I do cuz I love him but neither of which I enjoy).
  • I would love a little girl, my DS is 2 in March and I would just love to have 1 of each. DH has also said the same because we have agreed this will be our last pregnancy. If we have a boy we won't be disappointed though.
  • Knottie36157349 I love Batman. I'm a daughter, not a son. I don't see any incongruity here. I mean, have you seen Batman Begins?

I am praying, and praying some more that it's a boy. I've had 4 girls, one I gave up for adoption (was young and my 1st) and I really want my 3 girls to have a brother! My princesses are great but it's time for MY prince!!! We r a blended family and my husband has a girl and a boy. And my step kids' mom has 2 more girls. So my step son is the only boy between all of us. He needs a brother. Good Lord it's time!

My DH says its a boy to ease my anxiety and I know he wants a boy too. But he would also be happy either way.

I'm the oldest of 4 girls and 2 of my sisters are also currently pregnant with their second child. Their firsts were boys. And they are having girls.

I don't get it. And this time around, I'm team green. Don't even want to know. Over it.

To be completely honest, I also pray for a healthy happy baby.

Happy healthy babies for u all!!
  • I'm on the fence as well. This is my first baby and honestly I just don't know...Some days I want a girl because deciding on her name was so easy and my family is mostly boys so it would be nice to break the cycle.
On the other hand, having a boy first would make my bf so happy. I think it will be fun to have a son ( we're planning on having more children). I'd be happy either way boy or girl- hoping for a happy healthy baby.

  • I currently have one of each but I'd love another girl! I love all things pink and girly! Also this one will be born a monthish after my DD was so I'll already have all the clothes
  • Wanted a boy and I'm ashamed to admit for pretty superficial reasons. SO is 6'6" tall and I'm 5'9" Kinda tough being a tall woman and i would prefer for my daughter to not have deal with it...shopping for clothes, shoes, dating, the award stage...all of that. Got a boy...so feel lucky :)
