Potty Training success - I am in shock!

So, I followed the 3 day PT method, and it actually worked!  DS2 is pee-pee trained when we are home!  DS1 wasn't trained until just after his 3rd birthday so I still cannot hardly believe it!

The book says to do the training at 22 months, that this age is some "sweet spot" when it comes to training, so maybe there is some truth to that?

Anyway, just wanted to share and AW for a minute!

  • Link to book?!

We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013.  We love her to pieces.

We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011.  She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.

  • Back in the day when DS1 was little, the PDF was floating around TheBump, but it looks like now you have to pay for it?  Boo.  But at least there is a money back guarantee

Here is a link to the website:  https://www.3daypottytraining.com/pages/order-now.htm

  • No, just google.  I found the info on baby-center.  Perhaps it skips some elements or something, but it seems like what I need is there.  We are going to try the method when DH is off for New Years...although that is kind of depressing for a drinking holiday...although part of the method is to drink a lot...and I don't really have high hopes for it...but he doesn't have another day off for months, so we have to try it.
  • I didn't have high hopes either, but by the end of Day 2, it was working!!

FWIW, I did let him go sans pants even though she says they must have underpants on...

  • The baby center one says that you must stay home and not let them wear any pants and then slowly go out for short times but only have them wear loose pants without underwear.  Underwear, they say, is like a diaper and they won't remember to hold it.  They suggest just going for walks around your neighborhood and not getting in the car, but I'm not sure how we'll pull that off in January.  Plus, if it does work, I do not want to miss all of our fun winter activities, so I'm not sure what we'll do.  I do not want to get into a situation where we're wearing pull ups for 6 months or something, but I do not think I can just let her pee all over gymnastics class, etc.
  • I think there will have to be a happy medium with activities where they may be too distracted to tell you they have to go potty (i.e. gymnastics).

I have heard they have some potty training underwear (not pull-ups) that help with accidents? I don't know, I haven't actually googled anything yet.

That's awesome, my son won't even sit on the potty. He will say bye bye pee pee when I flush though, he likes to give it a proper goodbye....and yes I pee in front of him, the kid won't leave me alone ;)
DS2 doesn't sit, he stands to pee.  It is so cute!  (He has yet to poop on the potty).

  • Standing worked sooooo much better for DS1 over sitting.  I plan to go directly that route with DS2

  • In my limited pt experience, training panties worked better than pull ups. At least for dd1. With her, the pull ups felt too much like a diaper, and wicked away any accidental leakage so fast that she never felt wet. With panites, she would feel that tiny damp spot and remember she had to hold it.

But I started waaaaaay too soon with her and it took like 6 months to pt her, too.

Cograts! I have heard good thinga about the 3 day method. It did not work for us.Dd took a very long time to PT too. We did sans pants or regular panties. We had a lot of floor cleaning to do. Ds screams if I put him on the potty, so it isnt happening any time soon. I also hope he outgrows fpies before we start, he has diarrhea way too often.
  • You said pee pee trained when you are at home. What does this mean for leaving the house? Poops? Does he stay home or go to day care? Does he give appropriate notice when he has to go? Accidents?

I'm very interested in giving this a go with DD hence the third degree questions above. She sits on the potty now before bath and will usually pee. Her poops are often mushy not hard terds so I worry this would be tricky.
