Morning Ladies and TGIF! Let's update the countdown shall we:
Jan 2: Okay, I am not envious cause I don't think I would be prepared...but how exciting if you got a Christmas baby!
Jan 9: Well Well, welcome to the month and under to go club, Jan 2 welcomes you. :)
Jan 16: Ladies that is 35 weeks with 35 days to go...nice lil coincidence there between the weeks and days.
Jan 30: Save the best for last...your still sitting there with some time on your hands and I am envious for living vicariously through the ladies before you.

Week/Fruit: 35 Weeks -

How are you feeling?

Appointments/Updates?

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently?

What have you done this week to get ready for baby?

Rants/Raves:

QOTW: Was at my hospital tour yesterday and the nurse asked a very important question that hasn't even crossed my mind. What are your plans for your normal life events that occur in the the event you go into labor? i.e. who is taking out the dog? Who is watering the plants? Do you have your bills set up to be paid on time should it happen around that time?

Re: ~~**Friday Ticker Change**~~

  • Week/Fruit: 35 Weeks - Coconut...why the heck am I not on a beach drinking out of one is my question.

How are you feeling? I am good, I go to sleep at like 10 every night and get up at like 5:30 am and just get tired of tossing and turning and go to work. hooray.

Appointments/Updates? Well met with my new OBGYN dr. this past monday, everything seems to be in order. I am scheduled for a growth scan day before christmas eve. Looking forward to seeing her...its been like since week 28 since we have seen her.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently? Nothing has purchased for her recently. I am currently just getting comfy and waiting. I have started buying more for that darn never-ending hospital bag.

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? ....hmmm just the bag and the doctors appt., nothing else really substantial.

Rants/Raves: So this might be TMI...ever sense about 4 weeks ago I have been fighting with my skin between my butt checks cracking...like I have dang diaper rash...weird huh. I have to put neosporin and baby diaper rash cream on it everyday. It's pretty painful. My Dr. said with the dry air and the skin stretching, not entirely unheard of and agreed upon my lil concoction to treat it. Ugh I guess its better than major diaphragm cramps.

Anyone thought of this..I sure the heck haven't and I have 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs (don't ask, no we don't have any other children..they belong to my husband and I). I think that it will be a conversation with some of our close neighbors..since we don't have parents that live that close and not sure how soon they can get to us. I am kind of glad she mentioned it though!

  • Week/Fruit: 37 weeks!!! Wintermelon..I have no idea what that is.

How are you feeling?  Feeling pretty good..no real complaints, but starting to get uncomfortable. Getting up and rolling over is hard.

Appointments/Updates? Had my 36 week appointment on Tuesday and have one Monday since I'm on weekly now!!  Nothing really to report.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently?  Haven't bought anything this week..I think we almost have everything we need.

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? Put together our swing and tested out the monitors!

Rants/Raves: Rant: I am so sick of going to work! I'm so exhausted by the end of the day and am always feeling crappy and need to lay down and drink a ton of water. I try to drink lots while at work, but the washroom is so far and it is our busiest time of the year right now.  Rave: Next Friday is my last day! Can't wait!!

My best friend is going to pick up my dog and take him to the boarder for a few days.  My brother lives with us so he can look after the house. I only plan on being in the hospital for 24 hours, but we'll see.
My MW also suggested at my last appointment that we have a secondary support person. We were planning on just having me and DH. She said a second person is good because first timers are usually longer labours. She said its good to have a second person for when DH needs a coffee break, bathroom break, nap, ect. So we asked my sister but I think she's step out when the pushing starts!
  • Week/Fruit: 33 weeks.  Durian Fruit.  I only know what this is because someone used it on Top Chef this week.  It looks way bigger than a coconut and way spikier.

How are you feeling?  Pretty good.  Sleeping is off and on but otherwise really good both physically and emotionally right now.  Only one more week of the semester and then I'm free to do what I want at work!

Appointments/Updates? Had my 32 week appointment on Tues.  Everything still looking good.  I'm again measuring 6 weeks ahead by fundal height but she said it is because he is really, really high and pushing out really far.  His head is right below my belly button and his but right below my ribs.  I had my growth scan on Thur and he is still right on track.  He was having hiccups while we were doing it and it was fun to see that on the screen.

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently?  Lots!  We got our car seat this week!  We also went to target and got a bunch of cute little clothes and a nose frida.

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? We finally started working on LO's room last weekend.  Move my desk to the basement, rearranged the furniture and set up the crib.  There is still a bunch to do in there but at least we have somewhere to put him if he comes before my mom gets us our co-sleeper.  We also did 3 classes this week.  Bringing home baby, labor support and breast feeding basics.  With the last one we got to re-tour the labor and delivery of our hospital which I was glad because we did that way back at the beginning of Sept and I didn't remember much.  Met more of the nurses and I'm feeling even more comfortable with their system.

Rants/Raves: Rant: 1) My grant got rejected last night because it was asking too specific of questions.  It got rejected last time because it was asking too broad of questions!  Grrr… reviewers drive me crazy.   2) My insurance is claiming that I get to be in the hospital for 48 hours post ADMISSION.  Otherwise there is a penalty fee.  But the hospital says it wants FTM to do 2 nights after baby, which means unless you have like a 6 hour labor there you will go past the 48 hours.  I asked the nurses on the tour and they think the insurance person I talked to had it wrong.  Now I have to call back.  Rave: My DH is so cute these days.  In the brining home baby class I made him do the undressing/fake bathing of the doll.  It was wearing a long sleeved kimono shirt with the little fold over mittens.  One of the mittens was folded and one wasn't.  He was totally baffled as to why they would make a shirt with two different kinds of arms.  I had to show him how to fold them back to get at the fingers :)

We don't currently have any pets.  We had a Guinea pig that we really loved but she passed in August. (We also have no current children but live in a dog free building so it was the closest we could get.)   I need to figure out what to do with the plants in my office, probably give to one of my grad students to water.  Otherwise I think we can cover the bills and don't really have anything else.

@jenncurtis- we don't have any family close by (all about 12 hours away by car).  So we are having a doula for our second support person.  Hope your sister will work out for you.

  • Week/Fruit: 36w/honeydew

How are you feeling?  Ugggh.  Get this baby out of my ribs and head down already!

Appointments/Updates? Monday is my next one.  Hooray starting weekly appointments!

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently? A mom from DD1's play group brought by 2 outfits for DD2 yesterday.

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? We didn't do anything I don't think...

Rants/Raves:  I got to see my adopted brother this morning for the first time in forever.  haha.  That was fun.

I have no clue on any of this...  We're hoping someone will somehow be able to come to our house and watch DD1 at home, which would also mean sort of feeding our cats (DD1 can do it with minimal help), but idk who that will be yet.  We can't decide and after how much I've needed help from people already with all the crap with this pregnancy, I'm having a hard time not feeling like I'm taking advantage of people by asking for yet more help....

  • Week/Fruit: 34 weeks/butternut squash ... @MichaelSC28 you forgot us due on the 23rd!

How are you feeling? Belly has been uncomfortably tight, really have to take it slow and take lots of breaks. Today the whole out of breath constantly thing came back, seems she's crowding my lungs again (at least I'm not using the restroom every 20 minutes for now).

Appointments/Updates? Had an appointment on Tuesday, Dr says "good job" for the amount I've grown. Still haven't been packing on any weight, can't seem to budge from 175 +/- 5 pounds... Next appointment is my strep b culture and all that good stuff. I get to start perineal massage today! (yay?)

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently? Our moms found a few books this week for LO, but that's all.

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? My mom and I attempted to hang the curtains up.. yeah, we stripped the screw so we're stuck momentarily (these damn DIY projects never ever go smoothly)

Rants/Raves: Rant- I am trying to accept that I can't finish all these projects for LO on my own! I make such slow progress I must have a helper (aka DH or my mom). Rave- I just am so excited we only have a month and a half to go!! I love this LO so much I am very overwhelmed by it.

Well (depends on my current attitude) fortunately we live with my MIL so she can feed our cat and change her box, and feed the goldfish. If they end up being gone then my mom can come over and do it. Really that's all we need to worry about, and I hope we won't be in the hospital for too long.

  • Week/Fruit: 37 weeks/Winter Melon (sounds delicious) - oh my only 3 weeks to go!

How are you feeling? I've been super great and optimistic since I finished vomiting daily, but this week I am DONE.  Everything hurts, I can't do anything like a normal person any more, nothing fits me.  I want my baby in there as long as she needs, but damn I'm really over being pregnant.

Appointments/Updates? I am GBS-, so thats exciting!

Have you bought/received anything for the baby recently? Still waiting for my dresser/changing table, I really need to unpack and set up her stuff!

What have you done this week to get ready for baby? DH will be building the crib tomorrow.  And were installing the car seat!

    Rants/Raves: blahhh...

Luckily we don't really have anything to worry about at home.  We water the plants once a week, no pets and this is our first child.  Most payments are automated, but if not I can pay them online while in the hospital.
