growth spurts, clusterfeeding, and daycare

DD should be starting another growth soon (11 weeks old tomorrow) and this will be the first one since I've gone back to work.  Those of you that have had growth spurts while LO is in childcare, how did this go with your LO.  I'm assuming I would need to send more milk... Just curious what other's experiences were. TIA

Re: growth spurts, clusterfeeding, and daycare

  • My lo tends to eat the same amount growth spurt be damned.  But he is still so small.  Our lo's have the same birthday!!

We have just been slowly increasing his intake and I always just send an extra bottle just in case.  I always make sure the extra one is at the front of the line the next day so he isn't drinking old stuff.  SO far we haven't had any problems.  I alos have a stash of dry powder in his diaper bag if it got too serious.

We are going through one right now. I have had to send extra milk. Now I'm trying to get my boobs to realize she is drinking more by adding in an additional pumping session on my way home from work.

Do you pump while you drive? I have a double electric and an extremely long commute so was thinking of doing this to save time.

I pump while driving and will have to some nights when I get out of work late. I have a double electric pump and just bought the car port to plug it in. I just make sure to set everything up before I start driving and then just throw the nursing cover over me while I'm driving.

  • @swise22‌ & @jeniece47‌ I guess you guys are wearing the hands free pumping bra? If so, what brand? I have the Ameda Simply yours and was trying to find one that would work for this reason (also being alone with an infant while pumping guarantees they will wake up and go BSC).

  • I do. I have the Medela pump in style advanced pump with the matching hands free bra. It's also really nice to use when at home because I can entertain DS and even feed him if necessary while pumping. I would assume it would still work ok with other pumps but I'm not 100% sure. I would definitely recommend a hands free bra though.
