We went to the ped yesterday and our dr wasn't in so we had to see one of her partners. He quickly examined my daughter and determined it was a stomach bug. This morning her fever was the highest it's been since she got sick Monday. She didn't even wake up until 9:30, wouldn't eat any breakfast...I got her to drink her soy milk thankfully. After finishing her milk she just wanted to be held and she was very lethargic. She fell right back to sleep on my chest. She has never been lethargic like that. After giving her Tylenol instead of going down her temp actually went up. I called the nurse, told her what was up, said her temp was up to 103.1, she said to bring her back in.
Thankfully we got to see our regular ped today. She examined my daughter and immediately ordered tests. After ruling out flu and strep she ran a CBC. White blood count was really elevated. So since that indicates bacterial infection she ordered a full panel. The results don't come back until Friday so they gave her a broad spectrum antibiotic shot. We go back for another one tomorrow . Friday we will get an rx for oral antibiotics once we know what it is.
My poor bunny slept on my chest the entire day. I've never seen her so miserable. When they took her to the next room to take the blood culture and do the catheter urine sample she screamed and cried and called out mama. I admit I cried. It was heartbreaking. I hope she feels better tomorrow.
