I'm home sick for the 2nd day in a row and early Tuesday am ended up calling the doc after throwing up for hours and feeling like I was dying. Turns out it is a stomach bug but I'm always curious if I'm hyper-paranoid and calling too often.

I usually talk myself out of using the on-calls service, but did use it once in 1T during a scary episode on a Friday night. I couldn't help myself.

Personally, I take call for the practice I work for and am happy to take legit questions, concerns and problems. I often will go in to see a patient with an emergency after hours. However, it is annoying when something has been going on all day and the person waits until after hours to call. It is much easier for me to handle your concern when I am in the office with your chart in front of me.
