Trouble TTC

Jumped the gun...lol

So I feel pretty silly! I totally thought AF was here so I called my RE, scheduled my ultrasound, put in for time off work as did my hubby and filled my prescriptions! I was so excited to get my first Letrozole cycle going.....

Welllllll...I guess I was just spotting cause AF went away? I am so embarrassed to now have to call my RE and be like nvm, jk, false alarm...ever happened to anyone else?? Or is it just me, Mrs. PCOS who's had so few cycles in my life that I don't even know the difference between spotting and day 1? Lol

TTC since Jan 2013      Me=25   DH=26

Me: PCOS; I do not ovulate on my own...like ever. All other tests came back good.

Hubby: SA came back in the normal range.

Medicated Cycle #1: Letrozole 5mgs days 3-7, trigger when eggs are ready: total bust...u/s 12/23-lots of little follies. u/s 12/26 follies grew 1mm 1 in each ovary. u/s 12/28 no growth. OPKs for hopeful ovulation, if not progesterone on CD35 to induce next cycle w/5mg letrozole CD 3-7, add follistim CD 8. UPDATE: Positive OPK 1/1 and 1/2, very unexpected and unlikely that I'd ovulate this cycle! :)

  • Thats crazy that you bring this up because i am going through a ccct test right now and im supposed to call on CD1 to schedule my hsg and on CD3 get labs and so forth. So im waiting for my cycle to come on so that i can get this cycle over and done with. So last night i spotted a bit and thought that AF was finally here and turns out it was just a (TMI) wipe of blood... one time and thats it... Nothing else! no AF no spotting today which im on like CD39 and still no AF! so that leaves me pondering, because there are numerous amounts of reason why this could be happening and i dont want to even start thinking about IB because that would make me go crazy so... my cycles are usually 35-40 days long sometimes shorter sometimes a bit longer (PCOS) but idk I just have to wait it out and see what happens!!! but good luck! we should def keep each other posted!
  • True story - happened to me last month. The last time it happened was 2 years ago.

  • You're clearly not the only one! I actually had heavier-than-spotting-but-not-heavy-enough-for-CD1 bleeding a couple cycles ago that lasted several days. I do not get my period without Provera when I'm off BC, so I had no idea if this was just random heavy spotting or the beginning of a period or what the heck was going on. My RE actually had me come in for an u/s to check what was going on. Looked like it was just random spotting that was heavier than usual because I was on CD 70-something. I kept telling the u/s tech "I know this sounds so dumb, but I have no idea what's going on. I'm so sorry." She said they see it all the time.

Our stupid PCOS bodies throw curve balls at us all the time (so do non-PCOS bodies) and fertility treatments force us to learn all of our idiosyncrasies. Its a process that includes many "What the heck is going on" moments.

  • My clinic wants you to call them even if it is spotting. They go ahead with blood work and ultrasound and say if any of that shows it actually isn't the beginning of your cycle, they will let you know before you take any medications. They'd rather you come in too soon then too late. But I don't have to pay for bloodwork or ultrasounds where I am in Canada so that's probably why my clinic does that.
