Re: CPW: Do you like fruitcake?

  • SS - I like fruitcake as long as it doesn't have candied peel. I make my own version from a spice cake base and put nuts, dried fruit, and cherries it

  • Okay. Every year I listen to the Splendid Table on NPR and they always talk about making a fruit cake and I always want to try it. Sounds so fun and challenging.

So LADIES  - Any recipes you may have and want to share would be greatly appreciated!!

  • I have always been curious to make my own and try it but never have.  For some reason, the ones I've seen in stores do not look appetizing.

  • MH and I just had this conversation a couple of days ago. He says he LOVES it and he looked at me like I was crazy as hell when I told him I've never tried it.

It looks scary to me  :-S
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

@mflowers929, that would be wonderful. Want to PM me the recipe?

  • Booze and fire... Fruit cake doesn't look so scary anymore!

  • Most American/Canadian boxed versions, no. If I make it or someone else makes it, yes. I've also had a friend from England bring a packaged English one. You warm it up, pour booze on it and light it on fire. It was soooo good.
My parents always make plum pudding that they light on fire. I didn't like it when I was a child. Now I do  :\">

@scubadiva30 - currently trying to log on to my family's recipe box. I always forget the dang password... I'll PM you when I have it =)
