Who's the most famous person that you ever met?

I must say that I've never met anyone super famous. I do know one person that was on the TLC show Candy Queen. DH was working on a movie, and Casey Afflect and Sam Rockwell came over and were chatting it up with DH about the horse he was riding. I also know the guy that was Heath Ledger's body double in the movie "Broke Back Mountain". DH's cousin works for a big party planning company in LA, she met tons of celebrities. Who's the most famous person you've ever met?

Re: Who's the most famous person that you ever met?

  • I've met Brian Wilson (former SF Giant, now a Dodger), Fitz and the Tantrums, The All American Rejects, Joe Montana (former SF Niner), and a few cast members from The Real World goes back to New York. I haven't officially met Patrick Dempsey, but I have seen him around town a few times and have walked past him on the street once. He was with his wife, and I felt like I should respect his privacy. I would guess Joe Montana is the most well-known out of the list I have actually met.

Most of my "celebrity" encounters have been people who play/played sports that I had no idea who they were until someone told me they were important.
I worked at a really popular BBQ restaurant in college so the football coaches and players were always coming in to eat. When I worked at an inflatable birthday party place in high school, a lot of Cleveland area sport stars had parties for their kids there. This one time I sat diagonally across from a college football player on a plane to California. My brother asked me to get his autograph, but I'm awkward so I didn't.
I met a lot of astronauts at the camp I worked at and have met a few artists through working at the museum.
One of the girls I worked with at the BBQ restaurant now works for Extra and is always posting photos of all the celebrities she gets to meet, SJP, Brian Cranston, Brittany Spears, etc. Totes jelly.

Edit: I also worked with a guy at camp who played soccer against Channing Tatum in high school and got punched in the face by him during a match.

  • I was hit on by my city's former mayor once but I didn't know who he was lol. Otherwise the most famous was a hockey player. I was managing a restaurant about 15 years ago. Our hockey teams captain was Jerome Iginla, not even positive on that spelling lol. He came in to carb up with some pasta. My assistant manager was making small talk with him. He told us he was playing that night, she asked what, he said hockey. She said, oh you will have fun playing hockey with your friends. He was surprised she didn't know who he was, he was used to being well known in our city lol. I just laughed and walked away. That's about it, except I also served a guy from Hanson, Hansen whatever that group of brothers who sang doo whoop was. He left me a huge tip but I didn't know who he was until after.
  • I might be dating myself- but I met Gunner Nelson- Ricky Nelson's son and member of the band Nelson with his twin brother.  I was totally over the moon. I also went to college- and hung in the same group- with several NFL players, I think only one is still playing, a kicker.

I was active in politics (not running but volunteering and such) so I have met the President, before he was the President.
  • I've met players from the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers, but that's it. There are quite a few celebrities in and out of metro Detroit filming movies, but I've never run into any.

  • I met Jason Segal at comic con!
  • Okay, the best one: We lived down the street from Rob Lowe's parents when I was younger which was pretty amazing.
Also, I got pretty close to John Travolta in Chicago, I've met (twice) Bernadette Peters, had dinner with Glen Campbell (long story, but I was in elementary school and had no freakin' clue who he was, but my good friend's parents were well to do and we ate with him before his concert...my parents about died!), and I hung out with Jay Cutler when he played for Vandy because one of my best friends dated his best friend...randomness...
  • I was supposed to meet the backstreet boys when I was in middle school, but it fell through.

My uncle is super involved in the music business, he's started a lot of organizations and non-profits to benefit music education, so he's got all the connections.  He got me in to a TV show the BSB were playing at and I was supposed to go meet them after, but they had a schedule change and had to leave right away.  I got a water bottle one of them (I forget who) drank from as a consolation prize.

  • @Spin313 I am also in Michigan and have met Joey Kocur from the redwings. Where in Michigan are you? I have also met O Town (Ashley was rude), Rev Theory, and I was at a Collin Raye concert a long time ago with my mom and he winked at me during his performance and gave me a signed drum stick lol

I've met a lot of people over the years - I'm happy to say I'm friends IRL with quite a few people who've been on the Food Network shows.  I've met quite a few politicians (former HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson is the person who got the "highest ranking" position, but also a family friend from long before he was in politics)...  I've interviewed a number of country music singers (I was a reporter in college)...  And, just the nature of the entertainment business I got to meet a lot of random "famous" people...

The one that I have the best story about was Brett Favre though - in college he was speaking at a fundraiser and I being one to HATE turkey had the choice of staying backstage as "Sergeant at Arms" or going and having a Turkey sandwich and schmoozing at the fundraiser.  So, we're there and Brett states he's not a fan of Turkey either and the other person with me was sent out to get him a couple burgers..  NBD, but Brett was a hungry boy - kept coming up to me every couple minutes asking "is my burger here yet?!?!?!" ...  "No Brett..."...  FINALLY the thing showed up and he was in the staging area, I stuck my head through and said "Brett!!! - Burger's here!!!" ... Kid you not he zipped through all of the Secret Service guys to the point they were grabbing for their weapons because of the gust of wind they felt as he moved through...  So he was shoveling down his burger and fries while making small talk with us working there, and had to go back up and speak, only to realize they forgot the napkins...  Looks at me says "Anything in my teeth"(he had braces at the time) and before I could say a word, he grabbed the backstage curtain and wiped his mouth with it!  - Hilariously MORTIFYING!!!

Otherwise - I did teach some "infamous" individuals how to ski when I was a pro instructor...  But our crew taught the dancers from "Riverdance" how to ski so met several of them during that job as well.

  • OAR - hung out with the band members other than the singer for several hours at a bar.  They even chatted about it the next morning on their talk radio show, which made me feel supercool.

Tino Martinez - More than once.  He went to high school with my exboyfriend (he is 17 years older than me).  Know him and his wife.

John Gruden & Mike Tirico - They do events every year around this time for the Outback Bowl, and the company I used to work for and that my husband works for is a big time sponser.  Ive chatted with them and taken a picture with Gruden.

These are people I actually had conversations with.  As far as literally just saw out and about, its a lot.  Tampa is oozing with Yankees, tennis players, football players etc.
  • Wentworth Miller.  Wasn't nearly as good looking in person.  Shorter than I imagined.  Maybe it was the stage makeup he was wearing that threw me.  Also, was at the same part as Matt Damon.  He was absolutely hot. Smoking in a jean jacket.  I was beside myself.  Never went up to talk to him though...I hate bothering actors.

Kat Von D at a book signing.

I live in San Antonio and one neighborhood over from where George Strait lives also the Spurs basketball players live there too.
I've heard people have run into George and he was not very nice. My neighbor was hit on and followed around a store by Danny Green. He's even come over for a BBQ and we met. Nice guy.
My Little brother has met Jamie Foxx. He said JF was a total dickhole.

  • Michael Schoeffling...Jake Ryan from 16 Candles. I waited on him at Toys R Us 20 years ago. He lives in a nearby town. My friend waited on him all the time at the local drug store. He was nice. I was young & so nervous.

Spoke to M Night Shyamalan on the phone. I was working for a telephone company. He called to setup 6 lines in a new home. Was being all secretive and wanted to have it under the name of his trust. I needed additional info faxed to do that. When I called back I spoke to his assistant. He was super nice and I was like who is thus guy? He asked if I had heard of the new movie The Sixth Sense.... still have his address stashed somewhere.
  • I've only ever met two hockey players when I was like 10 at an autograph signing thing. Adam Oates and Bryan Smolinski. That's it!! But my brother recently moved to LA and I have high hopes for our visits with him!

  • I stayed in the same place as Jane Goodall in Africa, and was always waving to her...she obviously did not want to be associated with us, but I did get to shake her hand and get a photo.  I once kissed Dicky Barrett of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, but only in a creepy fan kind of way after a show.  I used to ride the bus with Paul Pierce (basketball) in college frequently.
  • I met some football players at Churchill Downs when I was a kid, the only one I remember is Gary Fensick. I've met Joan Osborne briefly at the jazz festival in Snowmass. I also met Richie Havens there. I didn't get to officially meet anyone except the touring guitar player and drummer, but I hung out in the VIP room after a Duran Duran concert once and Simon and Nick both came up with Billy Corgan. I got some pretty good pictures. I guess the most famous person I've actually met and talked to is Joe Cocker. My mom and her husband always go to his birthday party. He loves my mom. She's short like me and he calls her Little Linda.
Me:41, DH:41 Positive for MTHFR mutations- one copy C677T, one copy A1298C. One daughter born on Thanksgiving in 2013. Six losses.

Before I read the last paragraph I was thinking you must be from Tampa. Tiny used to come into a restaurant I woed at.

  • Coming out of lurkdom...

I saw Katy Perry perform back when she was Katy Hudson and was singing Christian music. I got a t-shirt after the concert and she signed it. I wish I still had it! I bought her CD and still have it somewhere. I had wondered over the years what happened to that Katy Hudson girl, and then a few years ago found out she's Katy Perry. Mind blown, lol!

I went to high school with Elizabeth Chambers, who is married to Armie Hammer. She was one of the cool kids, but was still nice to me. :) I also went to school with David Aardsma (he's a baseball player). I went to school with John Elway's kids, but his son was a few years ahead of me, and his daughter was a few years behind me.

  • Late to the game, I need to check up more often. I've met Staind, the entire band at a concert years ago. We skipped school to go early to meet the Offspring, but met them instead. They hit on us until they found out how old we were, which was underage. Uncle Kracker at a Tennessee airport. Non point, although they never really got famous, so no one probably knows who they are. I use to hangout at their after parties because a friend went to high school with the lead singer. I also saw but was too embarrassed to go up to one of the Teen Moms at an airport. I'm boring!

  • Paul and Linda McCarthy

Bruce Springstien and the E Street Band when they were up and coming (I told you I was an old mom, but I was also only 7 at the time).

The Monkeys (well, all but Nesmith)

Most of the Washington Redskins through 1989.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^  All of these were through my Aunt who was a Radio DJ in Washington DC through the 1980s.

On my own - Presidents Clinton and Bush and a number of the Senate and House through my time as a Lobbyist.

My most favorite was Mr. Wayne Newton at a USO fundraiser.  I LOVE that man.

  • Most famous was George W. Bush, my sister had one of her art pieces put in the Capitol when he was Governor. Like him or not, he was a really nice down to earth sort of fellow...acted like he was an old family friend telling jokes and laughing with everyone. Met Gold City Quartet, nobody probably knows who they are...a southern gospel group. That was pretty neat because we listened to their music all the time as kids and that was the first famous people we met. Anyone that follows the Bobby Bones show, went to school with Lunchbox, he was on the track team with me and my sisters. I can remember when the Jerry Springer episode came out that he was on, our teacher let us watch it on tv. Went to school with another guy that became an actor....Mechad Brooks. The first thing I noticed him on, though I did not watch the show, was Desperate Housewives. And he has done a few mainstream sports related movies, most recently had a tv show playing an athlete that saw a therapist I think.

  • (Hello!  Brand new to that SAHM board).

I met Jack Gleeson (he plays Prince Joffrey on Game of Thrones) randomly on the streets of Pittsburgh.  I completely geeked out and was not cool at all.  He was super nice though--pretty much the exact opposite of his character.

I also met Buddy the Cake Boss while I was working at a Giant Eagle grocery store as a dietetic intern.  He gave me the warmest Italian hug ever.

I met Jarvis Jones of the Steelers while interning at Pittsburgh's VA hospital.  Also a nice guy!
