DH's work holiday party is this Thursday evening and the invitation says that casual attire (including jeans) is okay. DH is new to this department, so I've never met most of these people before, and I believe this holiday party is for department leaders (and SOs). I would like to make a good impression.

I think I'm going to wear black dress pants and a dark green cardigan with a nice blouse. Do you think that would be too dressy, or okay? TIA!
Re: holiday party attire ?
As long as you don't wear the miami club wear some ladies were flaunting at my office party. Seriously, low-cut, crotch-skimming, gold lame dresses with back cutouts. I actually dont think they work at my (large) company -- I think they just wandered in from the hotel (...or street) for the free drinks.
I would go dark skinny jeans with heels.
Dress pants at a casual party seem matronly to me, depending on the cut. Express style skinny dress pants, fine. Suit cut dress pants, too much.
If not, I'd probably gravitate to a sweater dress with leggings or tights. I feel like a casual dress is always OK for a party. I wouldn't do a cocktail dress, but I'd feel totally comfortable in a sweater dress if everyone else was wearing jeans. It is a party after all!!!
Thanks so much, ladies!! I think I might try on a pair of my dark wash jeans and see if I like those or the black dress pants better.
Good question about DH...I haven't asked him yet. If he wears jeans, then I probably will too.
