Hello all,

My name is Chealsy. I'm 24 I know I'm young but, I've been married for almost 3 years and have been trying to conceive for just under two years. I have stage one amenorrhea so I have known since I was 18 that there would be a struggle when the time came. I have set many dates to discuss treatment options but, have backed out every time before the appointment comes. I'm assuming from a fear of hearing the words very unlikely or never. I searched for a group like this because, I really didn't know where to go for a knowing ear. I have felt like an outkast with some strange disease that no one else seems to understand. I hope to return the comfort I am so hopeful to find here. Thank you all for reading this and I hope to get to know you all.

My husband is very supportive and has in recent months reminded me why he is my partner. He is gently pushing me towards going and has even said that he will take the day off to go with me. I'm just scared of letting him down I guess. Hopefully I will show for the next appointment which I am setting tomorrow morning. Which is also what pushed me towards introducing myself to this group. If seeking treatment has been this hard I'm afraid of what my future might hold. Thank you for welcoming me in I'm sure you know but, I can't tell you how nice it is to just know I'm not alone.

Welcome, though I'm sorry you have to be here. Even if you are just not ready to seek medical help yet, you are totally welcome here in this community. I hope it's a source of peace for you to become part of this supportive family.

As far as "letting him down," please understand that infertility in a marriage/partnership is something outside of you two that you both are facing together - you're not to blame, and it's not "your" problem.

When you are ready to seek help, the first step will be testing (of both of you - 30% of infertility cases include both partners, since that makes it harder to get "lucky" at some point). That gives a clear picture of hormone levels, sperm counts/quality, state of uterus and tubes, ovarian health and reserve, etc. Only then could your doctor let you know what your best treatment options and chances are.

Typically, after 2 years of unsuccessful TTC, there is about a 5% chance of natural pregnancy in the 3rd year. Adding in the amenorrhea, though, obviously you're not getting your fair chance of getting pregnant if you're not ovulating, so I am very hopeful that an RE will find a safe way to help you ovulate and give you some better odds!

Everyone else has already given great advice. I also want to welcome you, wish you luck, and let you know that you're definitely not alone. I completely understand how scary it can be getting news from the doctor, but for me, not knowing was even scarier. I still struggle with a constant feeling of being broken and letting MH down, but that's when I remember to turn to him and trust in our marriage. Sounds like you've got a really supportive husband with you on this journey, don't be afraid to lean on him , and now, us too!

Hi and welcome. I'm sorry you have to be here and that you are feeling so down. Like PP said, it's not your fault that you are having difficulties (although I understand I have PCOS and I blame myself a LOT for this. When we first started trying I had pages and pages of a diary filled just me talking about how much I hate myself). As Ketchup said, defintiely go to an RE when you are ready for fertility treatment. I can tell you from expereince I wish I had done that from the get go...I might be KU already and probably would have passed over a lot of pain going to an OBGYN. GL and hope you're stay is short and sweet.

Welcome. I am younger than you, so no worries about being too young. This group of ladies is really accepting as long as you follow the rules, which you have .. PP have given great advice. I just wanted to chime in and say good luck and that I hope your stay is short and sweet!

It is scary, but it did give me some sense of control/comfort to have more information to understand my diagnosis and do what I could to help myself. I will never be able to 'cure' what I have, but I can do what I can to make the best decisions with what I know

I look forward to sharing what I hope is a SHORT time here for you (and me)!!

Welcome! Sorry you have to be here but glad you found us. I hope you keep your appointment! I really think you will feel some sense of relief and empowerment in having a more clear idea of what to do moving forward. And along the way you will find great support here. (((Hugs))), nobody should have to go through this journey alone. And I'm glad you have a supportive husband.

I am newish here too and just wanted to say welcome! I am sorry you are finding yourself here and wishing you well in finding strength and being able to go to the appointment. It is so hard to make the first call and start the process but once you have a few answers it can start to feel better. Lean on your H as that can also help in the process. I wish you all the luck!

Hi and Welcome! I'm glad you found us. The ladies here are very supportive and knowledgeable. Once you are ready to sit down with RE, just know that yes, it can be overwhelming but once you have a plan you and DH are comfortable with you'll feel a lot better. Wishing you all the best.

Welcome!! Being part of these boards is really nice. All the ladies are super supportive and are quick to give advice. For the longest time I just read the boards and never commented, until recently. I have PCOS and have been trying for 3 years as well. I didn't seek help through a RE until after 1 1/2 years and when I did I found out I had PCOS. Finally got the ok to move ahead with treatments and have been doing them for 6 months, I wish I went to a RE sooner. The appointments can be a little overwhelming at first but after a couple you will get to the hang of them,

also-side note, not 3T related... Noticed the spelling of your name! My name is Chelsea - and everyone tries to add an 'a' before the L like your spelling! I've never actually seen anyone with that type of spelling. Do you pronounce it the traditional way "Chel-See"?

It is pronounced the same as Chelsea. My mom got a little creative I also have two brothers names bear and hawk so yea...in my town we have one RE practice with only 4 doctors so I will be about 3 weeks out from actually getting in. I didn't call today not because I was chickening out honestly it is because I have been at work since noon and will be here until 10:30. Luckily my job provides insurance that doesn't require a referral and also covers all the things I need for this minus IVF. Again I can't tell you all how thankful I am to be welcomed in and how at home you have already made me feel.
