Baby dropping

I'm 28 weeks today with my third baby. Yesterday she dropped down. I can't tell if she's head down or not, but I'm a little nervous! Has anyone else dropped? I have an appointment Monday, so I'll just wait until then to ask my OB about it, just curious about others.
Thanks!

Re: Baby dropping

  • My Lo has dropped a few times. Sometimes it just depends on what position he/she is hanging out in.

  • I was informed last week that baby has dropped and is at a -2 station. I dropped at 28 weeks with DD as well.

  • A coworker of mine told me last week that she thought baby dropped and that my belly looked lower, I was just like "oh, thanks for noticing" and went about my day. There's days were I feel like he's so low I'm going to snap his neck if I sit but then things change. I just think they're getting so cramped in there that they're filling more and more space inside of us.

  • This is my second kid and I still don't get what people mean by dropped. Do I feel like she's close enough to crawl out at times? Yes. Can I feel movements directly above the pubic bone? Yes, and I'm praying she's putting her hands in her face because I'm in trouble if I can feel her turn her head left to right. According to many people who like to strike up conversations in stores at random, however, I have not dropped.

4th baby and I'm the exact same way. With #3 I had to pee pretty much hourly for the last month and so I was sure that that must mean she'd 'dropped,' yet every Commentator Carol I met would talk about how 'high' I was carrying. Sigh

That was a pretty fantastic read - thanks, girls!
  • I don't think Lo has dropped yet. I'm not really loooking forward to when he does. Not being able to pee more than a tablespoon at a time and feeling toes in my ribs is something I can deal with at like the last two weeks.

  • I'm guessing my LO has dropped but only because now I can eat more! I had no room for food before.
  • I've been carrying a lot lower this whole time than I ever did with DS so I've actually been really enjoying it. I may not be able to put my ankle over my knee and I don't necessarily like the lower back pain most days, but I can breathe and eat as I please so it's definitely worth it :)

People make the "wow you dropped already! there's no way you're gonna make it full-term!" comment to me on a weekly basis. I've started informing them that they've found it has nothing to do with when you'll actually go into labor and that usually shuts them up.

I did notice my belly going into lower stages with DS, though. Doc told me that meant my belly had dropped but was never concerned about it so I didn't worry. I had enough on my plate with that little turkey as it was!

  • Oh and how have I never heard of the pregnant chicken blog? Hilarious and informative! Thanks!
  • Last pregnancy, I was actually able to notice the baby "dropping" within the hour he did. I was out shopping with my mom, and between one store and the next I noticed I could breathe a lot better, and I saw myself in the dressing room mirror. I could totally tell my belly dropped a few inches - it was so weird! It was a month before he was born, if I can remember correctly.
We'll have to see if this time around something similar will happen.

  • This is pregnancy number two for me... and I still can't tell when they drop. I'm the worst.

  • FTM and I don't know how people tell which direction is which! I feel movement up top most of the time, but I have no idea it's hands, feet, head or butt! Maybe because I'm only 30 weeks along, does this come close to due date??
  • @rosieo52 I feel like I would have no idea what end was what if I didn't get monthly growth ultrasounds and if he hasn't been head down every time. Now I just guess based upon that, I'm sure if I could actually see what was what I would be dead wrong

  • If my babies drop any more, they will be on the ground.  They've been so low the WHOLE time.

  • I am 29wks and 4days preggo and I as well have felt like I have dropped been feeling lots of pressure when I walk I feel myself swaddling from side to side sometimes. Hope I don't have my baby early cause my other two pregnancies came 2&3weeks early.
  • This little guy has. It makes me concerned that he wants out early. My dr even mentioned last week that he was riding low.
  • My lady went back up after three days! I mentioned it to my OB and she said that's completely normal. My first two never did that. I guess things are just more stretched out this time, so the baby has more room to move? Haha!
  • My nurse asked if I feel her head in my pelvic cavity cause she has dropped. I told her I waddle so I don't squish her little head. Nurse said nothing to worry about doesn't mean anything RE: going into labor early.
  • In an interesting turn of events my little lady has some how crawled back up and she's so high now that I'm measuring three weeks ahead! I can barely breathe! I have to have an US at my next appt in two weeks to check her size. Crazy baby! Calm down in there!
  • I'm convinced mine is just all over the place and huge at that! I'm 32 weeks - half the time I feel like she might fall out, but there are feet way up in my ribs and I can't breathe at all. All random strangers are convinced enough to ask me if I'm "sure" she's not a boy.
