WMR: working out at lunch

Another hygiene question, lol. You girls are going to start thinking I'm really gross! I promise I'm not. I always smell like roses. :)

If you work out at lunch, so you shower after? Or just wipe down and deodorize? I'd like to start running on the track at lunch but I'm puzzled about how to deal with this post-workout as I won't have time to shower/no access to shower.

Re: WMR: working out at lunch

  • I'm lucky to have a shower at my office, so most days I shower after working out.  The only exception would be if I don't sweat a lot (like on some days I do crossfit and there's more weights than cardio and I don't sweat too much).

When I shower, I only do neck down, so that I don't have to re-do makeup or get my hair wet.

I'm a major sweater though - if you're one of those lucky people who doesn't sweat much, you could probably get away without it.

  • I do hot vinyasa yoga at lunch 3 times a week. I definitely sweat but I don't get super stinky so I usually do a quick baby wipes bath, hit my hair with a blow dryer and dry shampoo. I usually wash my face before class and throw some water on it after to rinse off so I do end up redoing makeup but I have it down to a 5 minute makeup routine, 10 minutes for all of it. I do slow flow, non-hot yoga the other two days and, for that, I don't take my makeup off because it isn't as sweaty of an affair so I just do a quick wipe down.

  • I have always wondered this too.  I sweat a TON when I work-out, so I never figured out how I would get away with not washing my hair or redoing make-up afterwards.  Does dry shampoo really work?

  • We have a few gyms on location of where I work (working for the military has it perks sometimes).  If I am really working hard (like doing a class or something) and I sweat up a storm then I shower.

If I don't sweat, or just a little I baby wipe and go on with my day.

Days where I know I have important meetings or that I have had to dress extra nice, I skip the workout.  It is too hard to get that fancy again in the gym locker room.

  • I am fortunate to WFH so I shower after I run because I get SUPER sweaty.  I just jump in to wash off my body (no face or hair) then touch up my hair and makeup.

I have friends who don't sweat much and can totally get away with not showering but I'm not that lucky.

  • I am absolutely disgusting after a workout - I sweat a ton, and my face is usually purple.  I rarely work out at lunch, but when I do, I need to shower.  There's a locker room with showers in my building, so I can always use that.  In the winter, I'd just do neck-down, but in the summer, if I got super sweaty, I'd wash hair and leave it wet (naturally curly, but I straighten in the winter).
  • I get supersweaty and have a shower at work. That said, even with my shower, I am way dress-downed for work. I have to wash my face, but don't apply makeup afterwards. My hair is also very think and fine and, as a result, sticks out like I electrocuted myself, but it's too much trouble to wash. So it stays in a bun that I try to smooth down as much as possible. This would clearly not work for everyone. My job description includes "hermit-like job conditions," so I'm good.

If I didn't have a shower, I would save my workout for the end of the day.

Oh, and dry shampoo is the bomb. @PrivacyWanted - I've only tried Loreal and it's pretty decent, but wondering if there's something better. What kind have you tried that works best?

Not directed at me but just jumping in: I like the Tigi Rockaholic dry shampoo.
