I'm only 18 weeks and already having Braxton hicks. I was woken up a couple times last night with them. This is my 3rd and I can't remember having them until the end with the other two. Anyone else?
It's normal for your uterus to contract at any time, but I don't think it's normal for them to wake you up this early in pregnancy. I would call the doc.

Thanks ladies. I called in and they said to call back if I get anymore this morning... She went through a check list of everything that causes them and my answers were all no. Hopefully no more this morning!
I have gotten a couple already but it's usually just after sex. They feel like my uterus pulling into a small ball instead of my entire belly getting hard like later in pregnancy. They don't hurt but are a familiar feeling.
The tech pointed mine out at a 16w ultrasound. I've read they can start as early as 6w, but most women don't feel it that early. Hoping you feel better though!
I've been feeling tightening off and on, too, and chalked them up to some early Braxton Hicks. I don't think it's unusual to have them (occasionally) this early.
I definitely am getting them from time to time. Nothing strong enough to wake me up though. I'm guessing it might be due to not drinking enough like others have mentioned. My OB told me its perfectly normal.
I had them early on in my first pregnancy. Maybe around 20 weeks? I have them this time around already too. Nothing strong enough to wake me up but enough to make me notice.
I just got back from the DR after having some contractions last night. He measured my cervix and put me on magnesium. He said it is a bit early but nothing to worry about as long as my Cervix isn't getting shorter. I'm glad I went. Piece of mind.
I am almost 18 weeks and have had a few. Mine are probably from not drinking enough water.
This is me, too. I also thought it was too early to get them, but they're definitely Braxton Hicks contractions. I'm not getting enough water, so I chalked it up to that.
Me too. I had them when I was much further along last pregnancy. I agree with you all, I'm probably not getting enough water and also chasing a toddler around doesn't help!
I'm a FTM here at 18.5w and had been feeling this all week but I have been cleaning hard core and on my feet a lot plus the water thing. After asking a few other mommies they convinced me to call the doc. The office was closed due to their holiday party but my doc happened to be on call so she called me back obviously annoyed and told me it's just braxton hicks and as long as it's not painful cramping I'm fine and that was it. Thanks for the advice and settling a new mom's fears doc...
I've been getting them off and on for a week or so. This is my fourth pregnancy and so I just know what they feel like. If this was my first pregnancy, I probably wouldn't even notice the tightening.
Pretty sure I was woken up with them last night too. Sharp like pain right below my belly button and that tight feeling. The tight feeling is still happening now at work. Googled it and it's seems normal at 20 weeks. Waiting on my dr office to open so I can call.
