NBR favorite Christmas book

I am starting a tradition of buying Christmas pajamas and a Christmas book for my LO to have on Christmas Eve.  She is already wearing her pajamas because I want to get my money's worth before she grows out of it.  I am looking for a book to buy and have found a couple that I like, but I wanted to hear what you had to say.  I would love to have one specifically for a baby, but I may just get whatever this year because it's not going to make much difference at her age.

I loved this one as a child, it hit close to home since I was in and out of foster homes quite a bit.

ETA: I guess its not great book for a first Christmas. We also have the Cheerios Christmas play book, and Baby touch and feel Christmas. But they aren't really stories.

  • @persephonerose I will keep this in mind for future years.  I plan on doing this for the next 18 years.
  • This is such a great idea! We follow the St. Nicholas' Day tradition of leaving shoes out, and growing up, my family put chocolate coins in shoes, and DH's family got a banana and a book, so we combined the two! But we just give regular books, not Christmas books per se.

We also do the "something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read," guide for the kids, so there is always a book under the tree for each kid.

  • The Mitten by Jan Brett, while not a Christmas Story it's still great and her illustration is beautiful. She does have a Christmas book that I bought for DD this year. This was one of my all time favorite books as a kid.

We always read Twas the Night Before Christmas as kids too.
We are so excited to grow our family!

  • @Emerald27‌ I love the need, want, wear, read idea. I will definitely do this once LO is old enough to tell me what she wants. My family celebrates epiphany on the 12th day with shoes under the bed for gifts from the wise men to bring. I have made sure to carry this on with DH after I got married.
