teething

So M is teething. He won't take any sort of teether. He isn't terribly unhappy, but generally fussy. It's worse at night. J is out of town so last night and tonight I'm flying solo and oh so sleepy.

Any suggestions to help him? I was going to give him Tylenol last night but he finally fell asleep. I think he's just starting so imagine it will only get worse.

I resisted giving Tylenol/Advil and tried other methods to soothe G at first, to no avail. Once I tried it, I never went back.

FTR, Advil seems to be more helpful than Tylenol, likely due to the anti-inflammatory properties. Also, it lasts longer which is kinda crucial overnight. I try to resist giving the drugs during the day unless he's really miserable, but I don't hold off at night. If I do end up giving them during the day as well, I alternate and do Tylenol.

Poor M, and poor you! I hope you both get some sleep.

I agree with PPs. Ash didn't take to teethers much either. You could try freezing breast milk and put it in a mesh feeder or offer a cold, wet washcloth. Hope you get some good rest tonight.

We swear by Hyland's Teething Tablets. They seem to really help Will. Haven't tried Advil, but based on this groups recs, I might just have to! We are teething right now too - I feel for you and M!

Thanks all. I'll have to pick up some Advil and hylands tomorrow. I've tried the washcloth, but not the breastmilk. I might be able to pump some extra and try that, or use some that is already frozen. Will that work?

it's so funny whenever I give him a teether he makes the most disgusted face and looks at me like I deeply betrayed him. Hopefully the milksicle goes over better

WELP! Yes, @stringy813 is right and M isn't 6 months yet. We had a sooooooper late teether (9 months for the first set), so I forgot all about that!

@sarahtrpt he doesn't dig the washcloth, but I keep trying to offer it. I read cold cucumber sticks work too, so off to the store. He is the only baby I have met that hates Sophie. My silly baby

@KLeigh1‌ - we tried the amber necklace. It didn't really do anything for Ash, but I know some people swear by them, so it couldn't hurt to give it a shot.
