Middle name for Juliet

We have settled on Juliet for DD2's first name (due in January). We've gone back and forth on middle name the past few weeks, but I keep coming back to my grandmother's name. I was close to her and she passed away 3 years ago. Her name was Sara Emma.

Thoughts on Juliet Sara? It doesn't necessarily have the "flow" I'd want, but I'm thinking that doesn't matter. I guess Sara just isn't a typical middle name to me, so I'm wondering if it sounds okay. Other names we've thrown out there are Juliet Claire, Juliet Frances, and Juliet Eliza. They all loosely have family meaning, but not as much as Juliet Sara would. Opinions? I'm ready to just have this decided! Last name is one syllable.

Re: Middle name for Juliet

  • Meaning trumps flow for me for a mn. I think Juliet Sara is lovely.

  • IMO, significance trumps flow. I think Juliet Sara is lovely anyway, but it's even better because it has such an important meaning for you. I say stick with it!

  • I think Juliet Sara flows fine. It probably wouldn't be my first choice but IMO the meaning here for you sounds important enough that you should choose it.

  • For meaning I'd say just do it, flow doesn't matter as much when meaning is involved.

Or as a suggestion Juliet Emme
  • Thanks ladies. I am quite the perfectionist and I don't know why I'm fretting so much over the middle name. Juliet Sara is definitely the top pick. It would mean so much to my dad (Sara was his mother). I need to get over flow and the fact that I wouldn't typically pick Sara if it wasn't her name.

  • I agree with @bromios on all points she's making.

I could never use a name I wasn't in love with, and part of loving it (for me personally) is loving the flow, so if you think it's going to bother you, maybe this isn't the right time to use the name.

OR-- you could reconsider the FN, but I do agree that Juliet is quite lovely.

  • I think Juliet Sara sounds fine!
  • Thanks ladies! This really helped a lot. I think we're pretty decided on Juliet Sara now. I think if we chose a "filler" middle name without any additional meaning, I would regret it. Especially when Sara is a perfectly fine name. And I know it will mean a whole lot to my dad, which makes it mean a lot to me. We would have used Sara with my older daughter, but we were set on Lydia and Lydia Sara would have made her initials "LSD." Not happening. Happy for the chance to use it now.
