Hi ladies. Hope you all had a nice weekend. I just wanted to share a bit of good news, which is my little sister got engaged over the weekend!
My family and I knew her boyfriend (now fiancé, let's call him A) was going to propose beforehand, but I didn't want to jinx anything by posting about it on here until it happened. We all live in the Washington, D.C. area and A proposed at the Lincoln Memorial and then me, my DH, my parents, and a bunch of their friends surprised her at a rooftop bar after the proposal so we could all celebrate together. My sister actually thought she was going to a friend's holiday party, so she was very surprised when A was waiting for her at the Lincoln Memorial.
They have been together for 4 years (they started dating officially a month before DH and I got married) and we all like A a lot. What's funny is that she'll be 27 when she gets married, which is the same age I was when I tied the knot.
I'm going to be the matron of honor and things are about to start getting crazy with wedding planning. I think my sister is hoping to get married next fall, which is going to make things complicated because DH and I are burning the bench this month. However, I told my mom I'm done with trying to plan my life around weddings. I already tried that with a family wedding in October and my best friend's upcoming wedding in June, and it didn't work. So as far as I'm concerned, whatever happens happens.
Anyway, I'm thrilled for my sister! Yay!

"Everybody here has got a story to tell. Everybody's been through their own hell. There's nothing too special about getting hurt, but getting over it that takes the work. Because one way or another, we all need each other. Nothing's going to turn out the way you thought it would. Friends and lovers, don't you duck and cover because everything comes out the way it should in the end." -Glen Phillips, "Duck and Cover"
