TTC After a Loss

AW: My little sister is engaged!

Hi ladies. Hope you all had a nice weekend. I just wanted to share a bit of good news, which is my little sister got engaged over the weekend!

My family and I knew her boyfriend (now fiancé, let's call him A) was going to propose beforehand, but I didn't want to jinx anything by posting about it on here until it happened. We all live in the Washington, D.C. area and A proposed at the Lincoln Memorial and then me, my DH, my parents, and a bunch of their friends surprised her at a rooftop bar after the proposal so we could all celebrate together. My sister actually thought she was going to a friend's holiday party, so she was very surprised when A was waiting for her at the Lincoln Memorial.

They have been together for 4 years (they started dating officially a month before DH and I got married) and we all like A a lot. What's funny is that she'll be 27 when she gets married, which is the same age I was when I tied the knot.

I'm going to be the matron of honor and things are about to start getting crazy with wedding planning. I think my sister is hoping to get married next fall, which is going to make things complicated because DH and I are burning the bench this month. However, I told my mom I'm done with trying to plan my life around weddings. I already tried that with a family wedding in October and my best friend's upcoming wedding in June, and it didn't work. So as far as I'm concerned, whatever happens happens.

Anyway, I'm thrilled for my sister! Yay!

  • Congrats to your sister!!!

And I hear you about not putting TTC on hold. I am a bridesmaid in Feb and was so concerned about it but it didn't happen. Can't put that on hold forever, there will always be something that comes up!
I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

  • Congrats to your sister!  Have fun with the wedding planning! :)

  • Congrats to your sister! I'm kinda in the same boat. My brother just set his wedding date for September 2015 and during thanksgiving everyone was discussing how I'm a bridesmaid and the possibility I may be pregnant. My brother and his fiancé started joking how they will have to wheel me around in a wheelchair so I can take pictures at this huge botanical garden they plan on going to.
