My mom, I mean Santa, always had awesome gifts that we were able to open while we waited for our parents. They were all matching, and my mom has made all of our spouses, then our kids, matchingones, too.

What you're doing: sex, temping, CM check, OPKs, PNVs, baby aspirin, drinking lots of water, getting really impatient

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks: I keep thinking that any time now my temperature is finally going to spike and I'll be out of this waiting to O period which is way worse for me than the TWW. But of course instead it dips way down. The positive is that gives us more time to get better timing. I thought I was going to O over the weekend which would have been terrible time since my husband was drilling with the Marines and we had no sex. But I guess this gives us a chance to get better timing. Trying to think positive right?

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. The only one I can think of is that every Christmas morning we eat cinnamon rolls then open our stockings before going to our presents. We also get in a showing of A Christmas Story every year.

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition.

H and I brought various traditions into our lives. On Christmas Eve, we have lasagna for dinner, everyone opens one present that is new pajamas (gotta look good for Santa), we let the kids open one additional present, and read Twas the Night Before Christmas. On Christmas, after opening presents, H makes fried dough for breakfast while the kids and I are trying to get all their toys out of boxes, tags off clothes, etc and watch the various parades, for dinner we have ham and all the wondrous holiday sides.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks: major temp drops and spikes in the past couple days. I thought vag temping was supposed to be less crazy?

GTKY: Tell me about a holiday tradition. Hmmm. Nothing crazy. As a kid, we always used to get to open one present on Christmas Eve and then we'd usually go to midnight mass. My dad would cook bacon and eggs or pancakes in the morning after we all opened our presents. I'd like to create some new traditions with DH and DS so I will be eyeing everyone's responses!

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks - Puppy still doesn't like my BBT and now growls at my face as I temp. Fingers crossed he gets over it

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. We have very specific menus for each meal that never change. Christmas Eve is always shrimp and grits before the midnight service. Bagels and cream cheese with smoked salmon for breakfast, cheese plate and apps through the day, beef tenderloin and Yule log cake for dinner, but my fav is the day after Christmas my mom always makes macaroni and cheese. It's supposed to be something simple after all the cooking but I doubt she agrees since she makes it all from scratch.

My family is German and we celebrate St Nicholas Day on Dec 6, as well as Christmas. We put out these wooden shoes my grandparents brought us from Germany, and in the morning we have oranges and chocolate in our shoes, and a stocking full of little gifts. It's such a fun way to start the holidays. I'm on the hunt for a pair of wooden shoes for DS so we can continue the tradition with him.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks Got a +OPK for the 2nd day in a row, so I'm assuming that means yesterdays + came at the very begging of my LH surge. Just based on past cycles, I'm thinking O will be tonight or tomorrow, so we have one more shot at getting our timing high. Feeling optimistic so far!

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. Nothing too special. I always make cinnamon rolls on x-mas morning, DD gets to open 1 present on x-mas eve, and we always have a big breakfast and DH's grandfather's house on Christmas morning. This will be a 3rd year celebrating Christmas together, so we're still getting the hang of balancing our time with both of our families. Christmas day usually consists of us spending as much time driving to different houses as we do opening presents, LOL.

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. We always spend Christmas Eve with my parents and siblings.  Then, we spend Christmas day with DH's parents and siblings.  This year we might change it up a bit.  We find that doing this makes it so that we have no time to spend any time as a couple on Christmas Eve/Day.  We're trying to create some traditions just for the two of us.

  • @ajtraveler Pom juice is supposed to help thicken your uterine lining. I think I read somewhere at some point that you were supposed to stop once you ovulated, but I know some other ladies drink it throughout their cycle. I drink about 8 oz a day. Make sure it is real pom juice - a lot of what you can get at the store is actually mostly cranberry or grape and just has a little pomegranate blended in.

    * Going all incognito with the "waiting to O" in the title...that's mean. No joke, I scrolled up and down the first and second pages twice scanning for "WTO" before deciding to actually read the titles. :P ;)

    Alright, now for bidness:

    Cycle/Month: 1/1

    CD: 10

What you're doing: OPKs, BBT, lots o' secks, and lots o' obsessing... Apparently, I got a first-class cabin on the crazy train to celebrate my first cycle TTC. Hopefully next month I calm down a bit, because I'm even annoying myself at this point.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks: I didn't start temping until CD8 for various reasons. Now, I'm kicking myself. Every single secondary fertility sign (OPK, CM, Cervix Position) unanimously points to O on CD9. But, since I don't have enough BBT data to confirm what would constitute a temp shift, I'm feeling extremely doubtful that I O'd that early. My cycles are usually 28-29 days long. If I'm O'ing on CD9, then that means an LP of 19-20 days...not likely, especially considering that my LP was only 13-14 days the last time I consistently charted. However, I've had a couple of really short cycles (22-23 days) in the past six months. So, it's possible that recently I've started randomly O'ing early, which would make my random short cycles consistent with a 13-14 day LP. Ugh. Why didn't I just start temping right away?? Oh well. Thankfully I realized this during my first cycle. I'll be super ready for Cycle 2.

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. I love starting the season by watching "White Christmas." I have incredibly warm memories of watching that movie with my family when I was young. We all still try to watch it within the same couple of days and text each other while we're watching it, even though we're a thousand miles apart. I also love making homemade hot chocolate and driving around to see the Christmas lights with our kiddos.

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition:
DH and I have been trying to start our own traditions, to prep for having a family of our own. The one I love the most is ordering a Giordano's deep dish pizza shipped straight from Chicago to Texas (DH went to Northwestern and is obsessed with Chicago pizza). Christmas Eve (or the night before we go to visit his family in MI, so this year, the 23rd), we have a picnic in the living room while watching a Christmas movie and drinking Sauvignon Blanc. We're really looking forward to these picnics with our kids someday.
I love that you order Giordano's and have it sent to Texas.  I have been hearing about it for years and we will actually be in Chicago for Christmas this year.  DH and I plan to finally try it while we are there.

What you're doing:  OPKs, EOD & some ED sex, pomegranite juice, BBT, CM, etc.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks:  If my OPKs are to be believed, I might be in the middle of O now.  I did have a temp spike this morning along with another +OPK.  Our timing has been great, so I am hoping my temps will give me cross-hairs in the next couple of days so I can move over to TWW.

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition:  My family has always had pineapple waffles and sausage patties for breakfast Christmas morning, followed by stockings and presents.  We then have snacks during the day, before a large turkey or ham and trimmings dinner in the mid-late afternoon.  On years that DH and I are home we always celebrate Boxing Day by relaxing with leftovers and enjoying all of our loot.  We basically spend the whole day in pjs doing whatever we want after all craziness of Christmas.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks- my throat is on fire, I didn't sleep well and I'm losing my voice. Tonight our financial advisor is having a seminar with free Red Lobster so I don't get to go home and crash. At least I get a yummy dinner and cheddar biscuits! ( even though Giordanos sounds better)

GTKY: tell me about a holiday tradition. We use to do Christmas Eve at my grandparents every year with 40ish people unwrapping presents in their tiny basement. It was so fun. Now DH and I watch White Christmas on Christmas Eve with MIL before church. On Christmas Day all of our parents come to our house to eat breakfast and open presents. We are training them early so we don't have to drive all over town when we do have kids.

  • @Bluebird44 I had a really short LP (8-9 days) for the first 3 cycles after coming of BCP. My OB had warned me it could take 3-6 months for my hormones to normalize and wouldn't do anything before I hit 6 months (at which point she was going to try progesterone). I've seen here that you can call your doctor after 3 consistently short LPs, but having just stopped BCP, they may tell you to wait it out a couple more months. FX things are better this cycle!

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks GUISE! I got my very first EWCM today! never thought I would be so excited by discharge from my body. But- small downside is that I left my BBT at my mom's on Sunday, so I can't pinpoint my O since I haven't temped yesterday or today. So I won't even be able to confirm anything. Just still excited to see the EWCM :)

I am going to temp at the same time every day this cycle no matter how much I wake up through the night...hopefully it goes well. Also, I have a regular therm. I was able to see a clear shift last month so I'm not sure if I want to buy a BBT or not.

@Bluebird44 I also had super short LP's since coming off of BC. I had mostly 9 day LP's until June when I had a 6 day LP. Since then I've had all 11-12 day LP's, which I guess is my normal. So I'd say it took my body about 7 months to adjust from being on BC for 8+ years.  I did speak with my OB after the super short cycle in June and had a few blood tests done to check hormones. She considered putting me on progesterone, but my results came back well within normal range. I'd say if after 6 months things don't start to get longer give your OB a call to see if you can get a progesterone check.

    Edit...I can't type

  • Cycle/Month - I'm not even sure anymore... month 8 though.

    CD 14

What you're doing: not much - tiredness and DH being sick has kept us from anything

Rants/Raves/Questions/Chart Stalks: my temp dipped on CD 11, went up for 12 and 13 and came back down today. Today is the first time I've seen any EWCM so I'm hopeful that I'm looking at a late O. I was convinced that CD 11 was it because I've never had my temps spike and come back down FX DH is feeling better tonight and I still have a shot at this cycle

GTKY: growing up we had wooden shoes instead of stockings. My parents got them in The Netherlands. Even though we have stockings now, my folks still put our shoes under their tree
