Wanting to spoil my husband (daddy to be)

so this is the first time i'm trying something like this, so please bare with me :)

but, I would really like to do /get something special for my husband for the day that baby comes? Something that will make him feel special and appreciated.

I was thinking of maybe a hospital survival kit - maybe include his favorite treats and magazines etc.

I would love to hear if anyone has some sweet ideas or what you have done for the new dads in your life.

thanks....

  • Loading the player...
  • wow! that website has some really cute ideas! Thanks so much.

I'm unfortunately all the way in South Africa but will take some ideas and see if i can find a supplier here that can do a similar thing.

    Thanks again.
  • Maybe some smelling salts ;) I like this idea though. I'm not organized enough to try it...I'll be lucky if I'll have my own bag packed.
  • I hid a bottle of quality whiskey in the house with a box of whiskey stones and new tumbler for DH when DS was born. He appreciated that when we got home. I also went to a store on Amazon called Our Name is Mud and got him a cute "Daddy" coffee mug.

  • These ideas are so cute!

I was thinking of finding my husband a shirt that says player one and LO having a matching onsie saying player 2. I need to start searching on etsy for it.

I also know someone who made her husband a daddy tool belt. It was a toolbelt and then they stuffed all kinds of baby stuff into it for him. He really loved it.

  • My mom got DH a really cute "dad" coffee mug that says "New Daddy (needs more coffee)" that I'm going to put in his bag. Love the idea of the hidden goodies! Maybe sneak in a little letter for him to find and read at the hospital (one that expresses your gratitude)?
  • I made DH a hospital survival kit with DD. I put a little note on each item with a cute saying. I put all his favorite snacks and drinks in there. I put quarters for the vending machine for the late nights in the hospital. I put funny things too like rubber gloves for those messy diapers. I put hand sanitizer and the note said something along the lines of germ patrol. I found a onsie, bib and pacifiers that said something about dad. I also found a book that is called "My Daddy Loves Me." He loved it all. I added travel size toiletries to it to for him.
  • These are all great ideas! Can't wait to make hubs something!!
  • I just order DH a shirt that says "Daddy est. 2015". I was planning on giving it to him at the shower (he's coming for the gift opening). I like the idea of a hospital survival kit too!

  • If you have a Pinterest account there are pretty cool ideas that you can put together yourself. I've also found ideas for giving the nurses that help during my labor as a thank you.
  • I love your idea OP! I am thinking about doing the same. Couple extra charge cords, magazines, snacks and other things to keep him entertained.

For H I didn't make anything for the birth with our first. However, I gave him some dad stuff for Christmas. I bought him a picture frame that has a cute poem about not being able to meet you that had an u/s picture in it, a diaper bag with his favorite sports team, and some onesies that had sayings about dad (my dad is my super hero; I love my dad; I listen to rock with my dad; etc).

Edited to fix u/s. Not sure why autocorrect changes it to u/a.

Check Etsy. There is an option that you can shop from sellers in only your country too.

For my DH, I'll just pack him a "Go bag." Snacks, drinks, vending machine coins, reading material, pillow, blanket, sweater. I'll leave the daddy gifts for Father's day.

  • thanks for all the tips :)

Will definitely do something for the days in hospital and i love the ideas of the dad themed goodies.

    thanks again all.
  • One thing I've found on Etsy that some people may be able to do well themselves are wall prints. Here is an example of one that dads usually love and it can be made in many colors and themes and to match your decor.

  • If you plan to have visitors, see if they can bring him goodies from the outside world... a milkshake or burger, a beer or two (if that's his thing), etc. Our hospital fed me, but not DH, so when people came and brought him snacks, it was nice.

  • LOVE these ideas. I hadn't thought of this yet, but now I'm really going to get him some "dad" gifts. Several things from our shower are about "mom", and I was feeling bad. Can't wait! May have to give him something BEFORE our delivery day, but I love the idea of packing his delivery bag and stuffing it with extras.
