Whole body twitching?

So DS started doing this about 2 months ago and I kind of didn't think too much of it. It's usually while he's sitting up in his high chair or his play chair. All of the sudden it looks like he gets a chill and his whole body shakes for just a second. It will happen about ten times every couple minutes. Nothing else happens when it's going on I just don't know if it's an excitement thing or if I should ask his pedi about it.. Anyone else's LO do this? We are going monday for the rest of his flu shot so I'm gonna ask his nurse about it.

Same with the shiver. She hasn't done it often lately but I notice it when I'm changing her. I always just associated it with getting a chill or being cold.

My LO does this but not like a shiver. Its more of a shake with his arms out in front of him and happens at ramdom times. I have seen it when he is excited or just sitting. Not sure what it is.

When they shiver like that, they're peeing. My son always did it when he was a baby, so far I haven't seen my daughter do it though. Definitely freaked me out until I knew what it was.

No I don't think that's what it is. DS will do it like 5-6 times in like 10 min. I don't think he's peeling that much..

Took son to pedi for this too lat week. He seems to do it while seated as well but he does a wired face with the twitch. Pedi said he looked fine and his eyes never rolled back and was always back to normal right after the episodes.

It's seems like too many times in a row for a shiver. I wouldn't worry, but I would definitely ask the pediatrician.

Yeah that's what his nurse said today. We are going to try to get it on video and send it to her. She said she will ask his pedi about it. So we will see..

Hi! I was lurking from the April board but my son does this also when seated. I thought maybe he wanted to get out. He makes a weird face also. What did your prdiatrician say?

So after talking to my pedi she said it's called infant shuddering. It's benign seizures. They should grow out of it. And not worry as long as their eyes aren't rolling back in their head, they aren't clenching their fists or it doesn't last more than 15 seconds. Apparently it's not common but it's not uncommon either.

We get this too - it's not his wholebody though it's usually just his hands or his head - I asked the pedi and he said it's just their neurological system still developing and can also be a sign of excitement. Keep an eye out for all the things listed above but otherwise, it should be fine!

My DS had certain hand and head motions he did when excited at our babies age. Turns out he had complex motor sterotypy, which was a symptom of an underlying issue.

This. We call it "tensing" and it gets flagged by the behaviorists in their data. If he's doing it with his head, he grimaces and makes his face shake.

At this age it was mostly just the hand thing. He'd twirl his hands at the wrist and sometimes make a face at the same time. At this age it was often when watching leaves blow or the like. Turns out he liked the visual input of things moving. When I compare what his sister is doing now to where he was...they are apples and oranges. She's about 2 months ahead of him with most motor skills (sitting, all 4s, manipulating things ala fine motor skills) and she's light years ahead of where he was with communication/speech development. They are pretty much on par with clapping, for example, and she immitates his screeching perfectly (loud, loud house over here...but the imitation is music to my ears). He's three, she's 7 months. Bittersweet.

Ok thanks for the feedback - I don't think I communicated what he does properly but that doesn't sound anything like what he does once and awhile. And he's meeting all of his other milestones. It's good to be aware of those types of things though!
