SS: I prefer the look and smell of a natural tree, but we have an artificial one. When we lived in California, trees were around $80 for a natural one, so we bought an artificial tree that we have used for 5 years now.
I used to like live, but I've become old and crotchety and now I won't deal with the mess, the cutting it down, etc. I love having my artificial tree. I'm sure I'll have to get a real one a couple of times as my LOs get older.
Artificial all the way, I don't really like the smell of pine, needles everywhere and if I leave an ornament on the tree I don't have to worry about the garbage getting it. It's just there next year. (It's happened a few times) and saves me money in the long run. This tree was free but I'd rather pay $250 one year for a good tree than $50-$150 each year. (One sign I saw... No idea on other places.)
Artificial since I was a kid. The live ones kept falling on my sister (seriously that's weird I know) and maybe we should have just bought a better tree stand? Maybe it's just the excuse we were fed so my parents didn't have to clean up the needles and tree mess. Either way, now I'm wondering if I'm missing out on live!
Growing up we always had a real tree. I had an artificial tree while I lived in my apartment and for a few years in my house. It was getting pretty worn looking especially after our kitten swung from the branches one year. We have gotten a real tree the last 4 years now.
I prefer a real tree but this year we bought a fake one. It's a good fake so it looks real but I miss the smell. With a toddler who has to touch it whenever she gets a chance it's nice not to have those needles constantly falling
Fake. Have 3 cats. My tree is 12" high and sits on my table bc if i had a full size i bet my 15 pound cat would knock it over. We also live in an apartment for the last 10 years and there is just no room for a large tree!!
I love the part of picking out our Christmas tree, setting it up, how are cat loves this Christmas tree (he sleeps with it till it's gone), now seeing our DS get excited on picking out one and the smell.
Live. Definitely. We live in West Michigan and it is $10 for any size u-cut tree only a few minutes from our house!

Recovering from mitochondrial dysfunction and Addison's/possibly very severe adrenal burn out using food, medicine, and a large amount of garden therapy.
We've always done artificial since I was a kid, and I love them. I think it's a better investment to spend a good amount on a nice looking fake tree that will last for years, than to spend 70-100 dollars on a real one every year (that's what they're going for here).
Totally late on this post, but just picked up our "live" tree from Home Depot this past Sunday. After giving it a couple good shakes & sweeping up the shed needles, i havnt experienced my usual sniffles. I'm impressed Will decorate this weekend~
Artificial because we put the tree up early and are too lazy to take it down in a timely fashion. I think we took our tree down in May. It would be a fire hazard if we had a real tree.
A separate tree that we had just stayed up all year long.
