RHOID RAGE

Yes i have been dying to make a thread with this title. How are you dealing with rhoids? I swear I am no longer able to cope with this pain. I use tuck's pads and a cream, and even a benzocaine spray when i go--but i need the next level of pain management. And i feel like they won't go away! is there some OTC remedy I'm missing?

  • I had them really really bad when I was pregnant to the point of not being able to sit or move without wanting to cry. So I feel for you. I had about 3 warm Epsom salt baths a day and it was the quickest way for me to help with the pain. Not sure if you're able to bath yet. My doctor also gave me a prescription lotion - I never did fill it though because the baths really helped.

  • They are the worst. So sorry. Try alternating between hot and cold. You can ice and then sit in the bath etc. Aloe can also help a bit too I found. While wiping always use a wet wipe and remember that too much witch hazel can dry things out making it more uncomfortable so use that in moderation.
  • I'm 4.5 weeks PP and I feel like my hemorrhoids are getting worse instead of better. Admittedly I haven't really been doing any of the home remedies aside from taking a stool softener. I dread any time I have to poop :-(

  • My ob gave me a prescription that I may use at some point. It comes with an 'internal applicator' which at this point just makes me cringe/laugh in disbelief. I'm still so swollen in that whole area that the idea of inserting anything is impossible, even if it would fee better. Sitz baths and tucks from the fridge for me.
  • My OB won't give me prescription cream. She told me--get this--to "push them back in." WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN

Things I never would have imagined saying pre-baby: "that's actually easy and it works!! I do the 'tuck and tuck.' Hold a tucks pad over the area for a few minutes, and then gently apply pressure. It's not going to magically pop in and be gone, but it relieves some of the pressure. I did it with some during the pregnancy and it worked.
  • Sounds ridiculous--but I actually ended up going to a GI specialist to get relief after delivery--she prescribed me "rectal rockets"--they are compounded suppositories that contain lidocaine and hydrocortisone--after about 4 nights of them, I could hardly feel them anymore!!!
