Trying to Get Pregnant

Waiting to do Something

The Waiting to do Something thread is posted once a week (usually on Mondays) for those of us that experience long, extended cycles. Whether it's medicated cycles, long (45ish+ days) cycles, postpartum/breastfeeding, TTA, on the bench, or something else, this is the place we gather throughout the week to discuss and vent about our slightly unique situation.

If you're unsure if you belong here or WTO/TWW just lurk one week longer in each thread. I promise you'll find your niche. :)

1) numbers. Stats. give us the 411 on your cycle timeline so we may have an at a glance reference.
2) special circumstances? (ivf, provera, AI, post BCP, TTA, whatever that drops you into WTDS)
3) No Shame No Flame questions, chart links, unabashed hopes and symptom spotting, gripes about FF/body/other.
4) gtky. Tell a Joke. Funny, dirty, terrible, eye roll worthy... Give it a shot.

Re: Waiting to do Something

  • I don't have anything much to say besides I hate spotting. If af is coming, I just need it to be over with. But I have a joke...

  • 1) I started tempting and tracking my cycle in September (stopped BCP in June), and have about a 26-27 cycle. For the record, I think it is incredible how much I did NOT know how my body worked before I started temping and preparing to TTC.

    2) I stopped BCP this summer, but then my in-laws surprised us with a trip to Europe for next summer. Our original plan was to start TTC this fall, but with the trip next summer and the slight chance that we could get pregnant right away and be due mid-European vacation, we're waiting until next month to actively start trying.

    3) My work schedule has changed recently, and I'm waking up at 3:15am a couple days a week. If I am getting plenty of sleep before that, will it throw me off to temp at a more regular time on the days I'm not up so early? Or should I just set my alarm to take my temp at the same time everyday?

Other than that, I know next month when we are actively trying I am going to be symptom spotting like crazy. Any great tips to keep your mind off every little ache, pain or symptom?

    4) Did you hear about that cemetery? People are just dying to get in there. (Eye roll, but I can't help saying it every time we pass a cemetery...) :)
  • 1) numbers: trying since June but only 4th cycle

    2) special circumstances? 43-49 day cycles, using opps on the regular but ovulating :)

    3) No Shame No Flame: ovulated over the weekend, followed the directions to "complete the transaction" hahah, next day no more ovulation. Thunk I'm one of those 12 hour ovulators.

    4) gtky: knock knock
    Who's there? Cash
    Cash who?
    No thanks, I'm allergic.

    He heh :)
  • 1) numbers. No PPAF at 18 months
    2) special circumstances? breastfeeding
    3) No Shame No Flame Nothing much to tell.  Like @mamasargetobe, I've been getting hopeful, fertile-looking CM...over and over again since August.  Sooner or later it has to mean something, right?
    4) gtky. Why did the monkey fall out of the tree?

    It was dead.
  • You're more than welcome here, but this thread is mainly for people who have very long cycles, aren't ovulating, or are post-partum waiting for their cycles to return, etc. If you have 26-27 day cycles, you may find the Waiting to Ovulate (WTO) and Two Week Wait (TWW) threads more useful to you.

    :)

    @coffeerainrepeat
Or TTA. but either way, good luck with your first month temping.

Also to answer your question - I'd bite the bullet and temp at 3:15 everyday. I'm a same-time person rather than 3 hour person. But that time is going to be distinctly different on the off days. Plus at 3am one would hope you could fall back asleep.
  • 1) numbers. CD25 of what is disappointingly looking like the last one.  Sighs.
    2) special circumstances? enormously long cycles that are probably anovulatory and require Provera to end.
    3) No Shame No Flame I just want to curl up into a ball and cry.  Can you give me ANYTHING to hope for, body?  Please?
    4) gtky. What did the lion call the mouse?  Dinner.

  • Late to the party, it has already been one of those weeks!

    1) numbers. Month 13 CD 11

    2) special circumstances? Last cycle before we begin treatment cycles. Just hoping and praying and crossing everything we can pull a Hail Mary this month!

    3) No Shame No Flame Got my results back from all my testing. I went from thinking everything was fine to finding out I have PCOS, a blocked right tube, and high thyroid levels. Blah. I now know my body is jacked up.

    4) gtky. Tell a Joke. Funny, dirty, terrible, eye roll worthy... Give it a shot. Why is a math book always unhappy? Because it always has lots of problems.

@ramaholic-sorry your cycle is looking like the last long stupid one. FX just maybe it will change its mind. ((Hugs))

    1) numbers. Not sure. Still on bcp right now (See #2). Temping (vag) and charting just to understand and get the hang of it. Going off pill after next pack (end of January). So I guess I'm on CD 11? Because I'm on my 11th pill? ETA: No. Not cycle day 11. That's first day of AF. Got it. .... See - still learning.

    2) special circumstances? Gonna try not to make this a novel. Two special circumstances: TTA until February due to work and travel commitments in 2015. PCOS and never having regular periods/ovulation through early twenties (am now 29) have a big ole question mark on my fertility and cycles until going off the pill in January. Could be perfect 28 days... could be six to eight months. We will see... My average time between periods before going on hbcp in my early twenties was every three to four months. Sometimes I'd go six+ without one. But it was never consistent.

    3) No Shame No Flame What do dotted crosshairs mean? I know the solid ones are your o date, and I understand cover line... My gut is that it's an estimate as opposed to a sure thing? Maybe?

  • @ramaholic‌ there u r! I was waiting for ur update! I feel the exact same:( cd 19 and no ovulation in site I'm feeling like it's another long one here too:((((( today is my ultrasound to see if I have cysts and I did schedule an appoin with an RE to get the PCOS confirmed and get a game plan of treatment (that's jan 6) BIG HUGS that ur cycle is looking anovulatory:(
  • Sorry to bump this thread up, but I really didn't want to make my own post. I know I need to be temping at the same time every morning, but I was curious is it normal to get the EXACT same temp for a few days in a row?

Some BBTs favor temps (Target brand come to mind right away) but overall, no its not normal. I've had 3-4 days of extremely close temps but never the same one twice. You may want to consider another BBT if its happening often.

  • @triplea598-Are you using a BBT or a regular one? The reason I ask is a regular one only goes to the 10th of a degree where as the BBT goes to the hundredth. A BBT would change everyday most likely, even just a little (otherwise change the battery or get a new one). A regular one would not notcie the slight changes, so for example 97.55-97.64 would all read 97.6.

  • @triplea598-I am not personally familiar with it but looking at amazon it has pretty terrible reviews. A lot of people didn't like it, although some loved it. I would suggest a new one potentially, you can get a mabis for like $8 on amazon or the CVS one is good I hear.

  • I feel like this thread is probably the best place to ask this, given my situation, so I have a question...

Does anyone know why I'm not getting a coverline on my chart? I just started temping mid-November, so I assumed that was why, but then I have seen other people's charts with similar numbers of temps (or less), and they have cover lines.

    Link for mobile: https://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/5526ff/

    TIA!
I have only seen that on charts that don't have temps. So my best guess would be that it's only giving you a possible O line because it's possible. but even FF doesn't believe it so no coverline lol...

Like @lazyreader said its because you don't have enough temps before your determined O. FF can't give you a median line between pre and post O temps because you have none.

Thanks! I'm going to stop by CVS tonight then. I kind of figured it might be a thermometer problem. I also have a really stupid question about bleeding after sex and periods. I posted it on parenting but haven't gotten any replies. Should I just ask here in this thread? Make a new thread?
