Back to work - pumping question

This is not so much a pumping question as it is a cleaning one. Mostly been a lurker here, but I'm at my first (emotionally trying) day back at work. I just finished my first pumping session and realized I no longer have the convenience of my personal cleaning space and time for all of the parts to dry. Tricky part is I am a grad student in a lab and don't really trust laying the parts out next to a sink or lab bench to dry. Too many drugs, chemicals, etc nearby. Does anyone have any advice? For now I've just taken everything apart and wiped it down till the next time I pump. Is it cool to just do the full wash at the end of the day?

Re: Back to work - pumping question

  • I think I remember @theresat858‌ mentioning that she stores her parts in the fridge between pumping sessions without cleaning. Then I guess you can take it home to be cleaned at the end of the day. Hopefully that helps & FX I'm recalling correctly!

  • When I don't have a sink available to wash my pump parts I end up using the wipes made by Medela.  They worked really well.  I had to use it on road trips and on the couple days I went back to work before I decided to be a SAHM with my son.

This, if you have one available.

  • I stick all my parts in my cooler and wash at the end of the day.
  • I keep my pump parts in the fridge during the day, and wash them really good with the Medela wipes at the end of the day. Then I leave them at work and repeat the next day. I only bring them home and wash them with soap and water every weekend.

Maybe that's gross and horrible but it's been ok for me so far!

  • I only pump once at work, but I use mine and put them in a ziplock and then into my cooler bag (it's an Enfamil bag I got from the hospital- looks like a little lunch box and I keep an ice pack in there). I don't wash mine until I get home each day.
