First Tri Screen: Not coping well

My first trimester screening just came back positive. Just trying to cope right now. Dr is 95% sure but is getting us prior auth for another test to tell us for sure. I don't feel like I am handling it well even though it doesn't change anything for us.

What test did you have? The nt scan with blood work or like materni21, panorama?

I hope that you've got a false positive. We're in limbo right now also.

I know how you feel with not being okay with the results but at the same time knowing you won't terminate the pregnancy.

Fx that this is a false positive! I know it's hard when your emotions and fears kick in, just try to remember that they call it a screening because the results are not diagnostic. My doc said there are a good amount of FPs. Hugs and well wishes!

Aspen - I'm in the same boat with you right now. Sending you lots of good vibes. You're definitely not alone. I know we're all different, but what's helping me is to remember that there are a lot of false positives on the first tri screenings. There are now blood tests like Harmony and Maternit21 that are much more accurate and don't carry the same risks that amnio or CVS can. They're still new and expensive so they don't get offered unless you're in this unfortunate limbo or have AMA. Hopefully your doc will order one of the blood tests for you so you and your SO can have the peace of mind to know what's up (if anything at all). Keep us posted. I have my genetics appointment on Thursday and can let you know what it's like in case you have any questions or just need to vent. Here's hoping that a few weeks from now we'll be able to look back on this and move on happily with our healthy babies. Big hugs chica.

This sounds so difficult to be going through, I can't imagine. Like PPs said, hopefully it's just a false positive. It's just a screen, so there is still a good chance everything is ok. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this. Like a PP said there is no good or right way to deal with this kind of news. Feel what you need to and don't be too hard on yourself. Fingers crossed as well that everything comes back ok and it was a false positive. I am currently waiting on my Verifi results as well...on pins and needles.

Thank you all. My Dr just called and he said originally, based on my age and health, the odds were 1/2000, after the blood test and ultrasound they placed me at 1/20. I am getting the panorama test on wednesday to check whether it is trisomy 13, 18 or 21 if any. Really though, thank you all. @starkbaby22 @tinybride717 Thinking of both of you also!
