i borrowed an arm's reach mini cosleeper, and i did not find it very useful. i thought it would be
easier to get LO out of the cosleeper and into the bed, but
you really have to sit all the way up and lean over and pick them up to get them out
safely. also, obviously YMMV, but DS just would not sleep in the cosleeper, so we gave up on it
at about 6 weeks and started bedsharing. i did leave the cosleeper
there, though, to act as a bedrail. (also, for higher beds, you will need bed risers or something to put underneath the feet to make the cosleeper high enough.) as PP said, you cannot use the cosleeper once your LO can sit up.
since i did not find it easy to slide DS over into the bed from the cosleeper, for future children i'd either sidecar a crib to our bed, or just put our pack-n-play (with infant insert) next to the bed. but my guess is we'll just end up bedsharing.
We didn't use that one, since our bed is so low (I think just a bit lower than yours), but my husband made one that had our mattress and the cosleeper mattress (a portable crib mattress) at exactly the same level. *that* was awesome. Used it for a year.
