Favorite name conflicts with last name. Help!

Alright ladies you all have been so helpful so far on our name search.Give me your opinions and advice.
Our current favorite girl name is Holland which Dh and I both love.
Unfortunately our last name is something "-land"
Do you think the "land" at the end of both names makes it a no go? When I say it out loud it doesn't sound bad because they are said a bit differently but I'm worried we might have to pick something else.

  • That's what I was thinking but of course needed strangers to help validate. :-)
Originally we thought Hadley but it's now too popular for my taste. He loves Kenna but I just don't love it.
I love Margaux but he only likes it as a middle name.
    This is maddening!

  • Love love LOVE Margaux.

Maybe I can work harder to convince him!

  • Marguax / Margot is much better. Just say no to the double-land.

Yeah, Holland is a country and it's already almost laughable as a name. Add in a surname ending in -land? Just, no.

Margot is quirky and feminine. Go with this one!

  • Keep looking. I don't like Holland to start and -land -land would be overkill.
  • I see nothing feminine about Holland and agree that it would sound bad with a "land" last name. Here are some suggestions based off of the names that you've mentioned:

    Aubrey
    Clarice
    Hailey
    Hannah
    Kendall
    Kirsten
    Lee
    Lindsay
    Piper
    Rhea

  • Keep looking. Holland is a GP name for me, but for a boy.

  • Ya I think it would be too much with the same ending. Love Margeaux, but the Margot spelling.

    What about something like Willa?

I have a huge crush on Willa.

And I agree with everyone else- Holland is not good, but the two -land endings are really bad.

  • Aside from Holland not being a good name, I definitely would stay away from it with your last name. My favorite name ever is Miranda but unfortunately, Miranda Anders sounds silly so it's not an option for me. I think Margot (spelled this way) and Kenna are both much better options all around.

  • Welcome to my world. Most of the names I love sound ridiculous with my H's ln.

    And Holland is not good.
