For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year.
1. How old is your LO?
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse?
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go?
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)?
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO?
Please feel free to suggest future questions!
Re: Extended BFing Check-in
She will be 3 in March
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse?
A lot. 8-12 times a day.
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go?
Noooo. The only time I offer is if she just got hurt or is working her way out of a tantrum.
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)?
I tell her to relatch because she is hurting mama's nipple. If she still can't get it right I just end the session.
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO?
Consignment shops. Lots of different brands without paying their full retail prices. Haha.

I think I am fairly lucky that I do not have to deal with it much. Since he nurses before bedtime / nap and in the morning only, he is typically rather sleepy and calm. Perhaps that helps.
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO?
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse? 2 (morning/wake-up and bedtime)
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go? This hasn't happened since we went down to 2 sessions so not sure what I would do (I mean she has to wean sometime, right?). Prior to that I would offer.
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)? Not well, ha ha. The gymnastics, hand to the face/glasses, and swinging doll are the most annoying right now. Mostly I just keep saying "No grabbing Mama's glasses" and "No hitting Mama in the face with dolly" etc etc etc...
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO? Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree if I have a coupon/credit from a return etc (that store is pricey!).
2. We nurse on demand but I estimate around 5-6 times a day +O/N
3. I usually let it go but sometimes I offer.
4. I try to redirect or calmly suggest we stop and resume when she is calmer and can listen.
5. I like to thrift. There is a church run thrift in my city called Thrift Smart and they have great prices and selection for kids clothes and shoes. I think thrifting is important for recycling and giving to the community andplusalso it's so economical!
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse? 4-6
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go? I just let it go now, but it rarely happens. She usually nurses right when we get home from daycare, but yesterday she waited almost an hour!
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)? Luckily she doesn't have any bad nursing habits, but when we're sitting together, she always wants to have her hand down my shirt, fiddling with my breasts. Sometimes it hurts, so I'll remove her hand and tell her it hurts mama. This is probably the most annoying habit she has at this point.
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO? Gap! I also buy a lot of Target brands (Circo, Cherokee and Genuine OshKosh).
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse? 8ish
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go? Offer
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)?
Try to remove hand, but he always worms it back over. Drives me batty!
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO? Carter's
2. How many times a day does your LO nurse? At least 4, tho recently in the morning he is off and on a lot. This is probably since he no longer wakes in the middle of the night to nurse.
3. If your LO doesn't ask to nurse at one of their usual times, do you offer, or just let it go? Let it go. I've been in the "no offer, no refuse" mode for some time.
4. How do you deal with bad nursing etiquette (twiddling, biting, gymnastics, etc.)? I've given up the battle on twiddling. However, if he does something that really hurts, I give him one warning. If it happens again in that session, then we're done.
Non-breastfeeding question of the week:
What is your favorite place to shop for clothes for your LO? Consignment shops.
He's 32 months.
Nurses 2x/day on average, unless his sick like this weekend and he nurses so much it hurts.
I never offer anymore except at bedtime, and lately I've been asking if he wants to snuggle rather than nurse. We always end up nursing though.
He's been pretty good lately. If he's too wiggly I tell him he has to be still for nursing and if he wants to wiggle we can stop and play.
We rarely need clothes since we get so many hand me downs and gifts from grandparents, but he needs something I usually go to Target because it's close to my house and I hate shopping.
Bonus random: at a holiday party my coworker assumed I wasn't nursing and I didn't correct her. Mostly because it wasn't really relevant to the conversation. That's the first time anyone has assumed he was too old to nurse and even though I know it's not the norm in our culture to nurse this long, it still caught me a little off guard.
