  What your OB likely felt was that your cervix felt a tiny bit loose and open on the bottom, at the opening, but closed as s/he felt up towards the baby.

  That's what I gathered from Dr. Google.

  Thats what she said.  I am 1 CM on the outside but as she gets closer to the baby, i am closed.   Never knew or heard about the outside.
