inappropriate sinus tachycardia

Does anyone else have inappropriate sinus tach? This is my first pregnancy, I'm 6 weeks. I have had inappropriate sinus tach for years and have been ok without meds. The last week or so has been really bad. Not asking for medical advice. Just wondering if anyone else has this and how pregnancy has affected them. Thanks

  • Hi, I also have had it for years! I'm 9 weeks and it got so bad on Wednesday that I was sent to the ER and now have to see a cardiologist again for testing. Have you been seeing your doctor regularly about it? I've heard pregnancy can make it worse.

  • Had my big cardiac workup 3 years ago. I haven't been to the dr yet. My first ob apt isn't until December 22. Pre pregnancy we discussed that i would need to see a cardiologist... just thought i would wait until i saw my ob. It's driving me crazy already! Sorry you had to go to the er. That is not fun. Does anything help alleviate the symptoms for you? I cant workout because my heart rate goes crazy. Does your horse know when your heart rate is up? Mine gets anxious when my heart rate is up. He usually knows before i do.

On my second pregnancy with IST. The first pregnancy the complications really only came into play for the 2nd and 3rd trimester when the blood flow and heart rate naturally increase so it worsened the pre-existing condition. Other than managing it on a daily basis I only had 2 bad episodes. One caused me to pass out. Saw my cardiologist but nothing he could do except tell me to eat and take it easy.

Also, if you get an epidural tell them you have IST. It was on my record but i didn't mention it when they came in to administer it. Caused some severe SVT episodes and they had to call cardiology in. Even with IST I dont think I had ever had SVT episodes before, scary and not where you want to be in the throes of labor.
  • @Dcwtada‌ that is scary! Thank you for the heads up. I'm not sure I would have thought to mention that before an epidural!

@JenzRas‌ I also have problems exercising as it acts up more when I do and I get out of breath. And God forbid I get nervous, upset, or stressed as it really goes nuts then! lol I definitely think you should be sure to see the cardiologist as soon as possible.so that you don't end up passing out!
  • @Dcwtada‌ thanks! I wouldn't think to remind the anesthesiologist. It definitely makes me nervous that the 2nd and 3rd trimester may be worse.

@ambercote88‌ will probably make an appointment with the cardiologist tomorrow.

Oh boy, isn't this fun! :(
  • Definitely not! Please let us know how the appointment goes!
