Hi!
My next door neighbor, who used to be my first sons in-home day care provider a year and a half ago, has offered to watch take my son while I am in the hospital giving birth to son #2. She loves him to pieces, and he loves her. Perfect match!
However, when I asked her how much she charges for after hours child care so I can compute what to owe her, she refused to accept payment. (Side note, when my son was in daycare we paid her like everyone else and at the same rate). She is close enough to us now that time has passed since daycare that we consider her family and she insists that family do not pay each other to watch their kids. So sweet of her because she works so hard and is so giving!
I want to do SOMETHING for her. It just doesn't seem right to have my child over at her house for 2 days minimum eating her food, sleeping in her room, an extra bum to wipe on top of the daycare kids etc. My husband and I are coming up with blanks as to what to give to show our appreciation and love for her. We thought maybe something personalized for her daycare - like a garden stone....but, that didn't seem good enough - yeah, we are definitely strapped for ideas. I don't know! At a loss! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what a garden stone is, but a little bench like this may be cute if she has the room for it.
