recommendations to reduce stretch marks

Hi all,
Hubby just suggested that I might want to start using extra moisturiser on my tummy to prevent or reduce stretchmarks (this is my first but but his 5th so he does have some knowledge)... What do you all recommend?
I am a bigger than average Mum-to-be so not too sure, whether this will mean I'm more prone to stretchmarks or not but would appreciate any suggestions (not that I'm expecting to ever wear a bikini in public again, I past that cutoff point 10 years ago)..
TIA
Kylie

Re: recommendations to reduce stretch marks

  • I've used bio oil in the past to reduce the appearance of stretch marks on my boobs and saw a great improvement. It's my 1st pregnancy and I'll be using bio oil daily to try and prevent them from appearing.

  • Hello. We have had a ton of threads on stretch marks already. If you use the search bar, you will find some good info. Good luck!!

  • I've heard that stretch marks are hit or miss & there's not much you can do to prevent them. I didn't do anything preventative during my previous 2 pregnancies.
  • Yea stretch marks happen wayyy down deep in your skin, so applying lotion or cream isn't going to do anything. You are either going to get them or you won't, regardless of what you put on. But lotion, oil, or cream is still good to use because your skin will probably get dry and itchy.
  • I did all the oils and lotions religiously last pregnancy and still ended up with Freddy Kruger slashes. Yay genetics.

One piece for life it is!
