So my lo just started daycare but it is also Christmas time. What is the appropriate gift for his three main teachers. Even though they have only been in his world for a super short time I do appreciate how well they are taking care of my wee one.
I do gifts for our volunteers at work. We've done those plastic ornaments filled with cocoa, cookie mix in a jar, microwavable popcorn with boxes of candy (for a movie night- could also include a cheap DVD or a gift card to a movie theater), and spa baskets (bath salts, wash cloths, lotions, etc.).
I used to work in a preschool. Honestly? Gift card. Everyone gives Starbucks, so pick something different. Even though they love your kid, they do not want a handprint. They probably don't need more bath salts, scented candles, or homemade hot chocolate mix. Consumables are okay too...but attach a $5 gift card.
I am still on maternity leave but for DS1's daycare teachers I bought them each an infinity scarf. They are in their mid twenties and I was able to get them at a good price.
DD1 started at the school in November of last year and I gave $20 tjmax gift cards.
Thanks for all the imput. I think my frI end who is a Mary Kay lady is going to do a cute little something for $12 and I will add a note with a gc.
I love gift cards but I also like the mystery of the cost of a "real" gift.
Also, last night at a Christmas party I had the yummiest oreo bark. I think I may make some of that too. Apparently these women love food treats. A coworker whose kids used to be in that classroom told me that she would regularly bring them edible treats.
I like the idea of making some kind of treat. I may do that and attach gift cards. Eli hasn't started yet but T has two teachers who couldn't be any more different. I was thinking Dunkin cards and having Tatum color Christmas cards for them, but there is a TJ Maxx and a Target both just up the street, and maybe one of those would be better.
Last year, all the teachers and the director at T's small previous daycare shared responsibility over both classrooms, so there were 6 or 7 people. We got a $50 Dunkin card and gave it to the director for everyone. But there was a Dunkin in the same plaza as the school, so it made sense.
