Wake up time- Morning for baby

What time does your baby wake up for the day?

Mine was going down around 7:30pm and then waking up at 3am to nurse for an hour.  She would then wake up around 7:30/8.  I just figured out yesterday that they don't need to nurse at night anymore because they are older and shouldn't be getting hungry.

So last night.. she slept from 7:30pm-4:50am.  I left her in her crib until 6:00am and then she fell asleep.  I'm wonder if 4:50 is considered to be when she is UP for the day.  Should I be getting her or letting her wait there to fall back asleep?

What time do your little ones 1. go to bed? 2. wake up in the morning?

Re: Wake up time- Morning for baby

  • Typically he sleeps until 4am(down for bed around 8) then sleeps 5-630. Sometimes i have to wake him at 630 if it's a day I work. Last night he got up at 1 and then he's been up since 6.

  • LO goes to bed anywhere between 8:30 and 9:30. Usually sleeps until 7-8 am. No wakes up. If he does wake up, it's usually around 5:30-6 and I do feed him when I've tried everything else. He usually goes right back down until 8.

  • Because DS is small, I'm still doing a MOTN feeding (4 am ish) even tho he isn't crying out for it. . He sleeps from 7.30 to 4, then back to bed til 7ish. Pedi says that's great for a 4 month old, no need to cut out the nighttime nurse yet!

  • LO goes to bed in the 9 o'clock hour and wakes up in the 7 o'clock hour. No MOTN feeding.

  • DD goes to sleep around 9 and wakes up around 4:30 to eat. She then sleeps in the car on the way to my parents' house (they watch her while I am at work), approximately 30 minutes. On the weekends she wakes up at the same time, eats, and falls back asleep until 730.

On the weekends after she is fed and burped I read to her quietly and after 2 books she is sucking her thumb and zzzz'ing.

  • LO is in bed somewhere around 6:30-7:00 PM, MOTN feed at around 2 AM, and back down until 7 AM. Sometimes she will wake up at 5:30 AM, and I bring her in bed with me and usually she will fall back asleep until 7.

And, for EBF babies, I think it is pretty normal to have one MOTN feeding until solids are well established, especially if they are on a 11-12 hours of night sleep schedule?
  • I am amazed at those of you with such early bedtimes! I would love for LO to go that early. When LO does go to bed by 9 he usually wakes up around 5:30. He usually will go back down at 6:30 for around two hours. Longest nap of the day. If he goes to bed later and gets up later he is usually up when he first wakes.

  • The past two nights, DD has been out at 7 pm. Then she stirs around 12-1. I feed her and then she is up at 2:30/3. Sometimes, I just wait to see if she falls asleep. Last night she didn't, and was talking and cooing. So we nursed again and she was up for the day at 8. Every night I tell myself that I should give her a few minutes at the 12:30/1 time to see if she falls back asleep. But every night, I get up and feed her.

She used to nurse pretty much off and on from 6:30-8:30 pm and then would sleep until 5:30, nurse and then wake up at 9.

I think now she is waking more at night because she gets distracted during the day eating. Sigh.

  • DS goes down between 7:30 and 8. I dream feed him at 9:45 and he usually sleeps anywhere between 4-5:30. He eats and goes back down. It usually takes about 20 minutes and then I wake him up at 6:30 during the week so I can get to work on time.

  • DD goes down at 7 and is usually up for the day around 7 with one MOTN feeding. Although the last couple of nights she has been really fighting her bedtime and waking every 4 hours. Hoping it's just a fluke and she'll be back to her normal sleep routine soon!

  • Normally my little dude passes out at 730. Wakes up around 3, which is when I nurse him again. And then he starts fussing around 530 or 6. On a good day he will sleep till 630
This is us exactly. I figure my guy will STTN when he's ready. I can tell he's hungry because I pick him up and he tries to eat my face lol. Like, sucks on my jaw bone because that's what he can reach! The past couple nights have been rough, he's been up about every 2 - 3 hours to eat. Must be growing.....AGAIN.... lol

  • We start bedtime around 8 and he usually wakes up between 2-4. I feed him and then he's back to sleep until I wake him around 6:30 to get him ready for daycare. Our MOTN feed is usually about 20 minutes to eat and fall back to sleep. Last night we did bedtime close to 7:30 - he slept for an hour, woke up and fussed for about 20 minutes and then slept until 3:30. I hate having to wake him in the morning so I think we might start adjusting his bedtime to be a little earlier and he can get more sleep.

  • My baby is 7.5 months old.  She would normally wake once between 2-4am to feed. The last few times.. she nursed for about an hour and drained both breasts.  She ATE.. but I think it may have been more of a comfort thing.

We tried the no feeding last night.
She went down at 7:30pm and slept until 4:50 am (wow.. can't believe that.) I decided that I wouldn't get her until 6am daily so that she can learn to sleep in.  She fussed (not cried .. didnt cry too hard) for about an hour and then feel back to sleep from 6am-8am.
I went to work and then Grace work up at 8am.  My husband gave her some finger foods and she didn't fuss for the bottle until 10am.

I called the nurse at the office to check yesterday before I tried it.  She said my baby had me wrapped around her little finger.

The nurse told me to NOT go in the room to comfort her and just let her sooth herself to sleep.

We believe in the cry it out method so that wasn't a problem.

I am a working mom so I am looking forward to some sleep! And my baby should learn good sleeping habits too!
  • @kmdendy‌ Ah, your post makes more sense if your baby is 7.5 months. Most of our babies are 3-4 months.
  • My LO is almost 17 weeks. I give her a bottle at 8:00. Then she goes to sleep between 8:30-9:00, and wakes up at around 5:30-6:00. Then I feed her, and she goes back to sleep until 8:00 when I have to leave for work.

  • @kmdendy‌, did you mean to post this in the April '14 board? Those babies should be about the same age as your little one. And those mothers could probably relate to you a little better than us here in August '14.
  • Geeze! My mistake! My baby was born in April of 2013. Just so you know.. the exhaustion never really ends.. And it seems like pregnancy brain will last a life time!

    HAHA... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh man.
  • Kaylee's usually down around 11 or 11:30 at the latest.  On weekdays I have to wake her up at 6am to feed and get her ready for the babysitter to pick her up.

On weekends, she sleeps until about 9:30-10am.

    No MOTN feeding.

    She's 3.5 months today.

  • Well, I guess this is a mute point since OP's baby is so much older than our babies, but just to add my experience..

I have the joy right now of a baby that refuses to go down for the night until midnight or later these days.. and then wakes up every 2 hrs or so.  I don't want to spend an hour trying to soothe him back to sleep, it just takes too long.  Whether he's truly hungry or not, I don't care, I nurse him - usually about 10 minutes on one side is enough to get him to go back to sleep.  It's probably more comfort nursing at this point. He also has some digestive issues going on right now so he may be waking from gas/discomfort but the nursing helps him relax the best.  Given that our babies are only 3-4 months old, it should be expected that they'd need to eat at least once during a 12 hour overnight period, especially if EBF.  Maybe not all do, but I wouldn't purposefully withhold feeding at night this early on.

2013 would make your baby 19.5 months right?  ;)

(I honestly mean that in good fun, not snark)

I was going to ask this. I'm so confused now.

  • For the girls from our board following this since OP is in a different situation: DS goes to bed between 8 and 9 and gets up between 7-8 am for the day. I sometimes have to wake him up at like 6:50 for work.

  • Lol you are right..She is actually 7 months old.  She's adorable and the best thing that has happened to me.. but I might have lost my mind along with my placenta. lol.

I thought I was in the April 2014 section.. then after you guys mentioned it was the wrong page, I just went with April 2013 without thinking.  Then, I realized I was in the August section. LOL.. Oh well.

I belong on the April 2014 page... AND.. I found it.  So thanks for the direction that I desperately needed (without knowing.. lol)

  • LO usually goes to bed around 8 or 9 pm and sleeps until 8 or 9 next morning. Occasionally she wakes up with me at 6 and wants a bottle before I go to work. Most times I can change her diaper without even waking her up. She is a sound sleeper. I sure hopes she always will be a good sleeper
