I've been slowly gathering some toiletries and supplies. I'm erring on the side of caution and trying to pack it early because I don't want to end up without one!
ETA: there have been a few discussions lately about what to pack, if you search for those.
I am going to do it right before xmas, so about 34-35 weeks. And I will keep it in my car. Holidays are stressful so I am doing it a little early just to be safe!
@unconventionalatbest I think I could deliver at 40 weeks and I'll still be packing mine before leaving... I'm aiming for the time frame everyone else (34weeks-ish) but my self-diagnosed ADD will likely cause we to forget
DH completely forgot my bag last time and the hospital was 45 minutes from our house. Luckily we had backup stuff at my parents' house 15 minutes away that he grabbed when he went there to get a shower and our car seat. I'm not chancing him forgetting my stuff I really want to have there and have already started packing it. I put things in there, take them out, put other things in there, take those out.. I do it here and there and will probably continue to do so until it's time to go. Definitely not necessary yet but it's keeping me busy instead of otherwise annoying DH
I definitely wanna have my bag ready by 35 weeks since that's the end of my shower week and I'll have new things to put in my bag

F15 January Siggy Challenge: What You're Looking Forward To After Baby's Born
I got a very comfy pair of new pjs and yoga pants before DD was born for the hospital. The pj top I got was awesome for nursing. I plan on going out over Christmas break since I will be off for 2 weeks to look for some new pjs. I will probably get all my toiletries and things too while I'm out and go ahead and pack my bag. I will be about 32 weeks. It's early but since I will have some time I figure that will be a good time to do it.
This is more purse packing than hospital bag packing, but I wanted to throw in my tip for being prepared.
When my water broke I was at home in bed (around 7:30 am) and I just felt a very light moist feeling. When I went to the bathroom there was a gush followed by a steady, heavier flow. There was no way a liner was going to get me to the hospital and even heavy pads were filling up uncomfortably quickly. I ended up improvising and put a newborn diaper in my underwear and it kept me nice and dry all the way to the hospital.
Thinking about this time around I've decided to put a couple of diapers in my purse so I have them. If I happen to be out and about when my water breaks this time I want a plan! I'm planning on throwing them in my purse at around 35 weeks.
I'll put mine together the first week of January, when I am still on Winter Break from school. I figure that will be about seven weeks before my die date--early, but I like to be prepared, especially if we buy a house soon, which I hope we do! I will pack most stuff, and the things that I use continuously, like laptop or phone charger, I will safety pin a note to the top of the bag so that I (or more likely DH) can grab everything in an organized fashion before we hit the road.
I'll probably start my bag next week as I will be 32 weeks along. DH's bag is easy to pack pillow and a blanket. We live 10 minutes from the hospital so I'm pretty sure he'll go home for a shower at some point when he takes the oldest 2 home. Everything for LO will be packed after saturday minus her going home outfit. Kids & DH still need to go shopping for it. Momma has already been told it's a surprise..lol. I'm excited for that one
I've made a check list of everything I need for myself and baby at about 24 weeks due to an unexpected hospital stay, I've now started to slowly pack things and tick them off but still got a few bits to grab, I'd rather have one half sorted than not at all at this stage (32 weeks)!
The closer I get to my due date (I'm approaching 31 weeks) more and more people keep telling me to have my bags packed and it makes me want to cover my ears and run away. I haven't had any baby showers yet.... and I feel like everything I would pack, I use almost every day anyways. Perhaps I should start buying travel size toiletries at least.
