Pregnancy Cold Weather Exercises

Do any of you have any tips on staying active during the winter months, without having to sign up for a gym? I mean, I'll do it if all else fails, but I'm really finding it hard to keep moving and active. Before I was pregnant, I wasn't exercising as much or as often as I should of, but I really want to treat this pregnancy right and be as healthy as possible. Does anybody have recommendations for some online video workouts or something? How do you guys keep your hearts pumping?

  • Find comfy couch next to fireplace, sit down, prop feet up, cover with blanket, try not to drool too much or snore too loud. I'm so envious of your desire and energy levels. But seriously, I used to go walk at the mall.

  • Fitness Blender on YouTube is amazing! Completely free and comprehensive, with about a trillion different videos catering to various fitness levels, easily modifiable, and all designed for the living room. Pregnant or not, they rock.
  • Hula hoop! Low impact and will help prepare your pelvis for childbirth.

  • If you weren't very active before don't go too all out now.  It isn't a good idea to start pushing yourself now that you're pregnant.  That said low impact stuff like walking, swimming, light aerobics would be good.  There are lots of workout videos on youtube.

  • I live in Saskatchewan Canada aka FREEZING. I still have been running outside. It's just so peaceful and calm. I love it, you just have to dress for it.
  • I'm walking on the treadmill. My doctor also recommended doing low impact core exercises. I just googled pregnant and core exercises and found several sites with good exercises that can be done at home.
