April 2015 Moms

Single Moms

hi there! New to the group, I'm 22 weeks and 3 days along. I still don't know what I'm having until next week. I'm starting to get scared as I am doing this alone, and wondered are there any other single moms on here? The dad was super supportive at first, but then decided he's "not interested". This whole pregnancy it hasn't felt real. I'm barely showing and have no symptoms! I finally felt the baby move and hear the heartbeat almost daily with my doppler, it's just starting to sink in. Getting scared I guess!

  • Thanks guys! Yeah if it weren't for the doppler I would go crazy! I hope dad comes around I just don't know what to do if not. I'm still job hunting so that's not fun either. I want to say I can do it without him but it's already hard just not having the emotional support. Thankful for this forum.
  • Congratulations and welcome!  :-h I have been told (FTM) that once you become a mother you'll know what to do... and what's best for your baby :)

This.  You learn each other.  Babies start you out easy with simple needs, and gradually get more complicated.  It's totally worth being scared and overwhelmed about, but you and baby will figure it out together.

  • I'm going to be a single mom too and since realizing how fast April is coming up I've been terrified. My family has been great in helping me out though. Are you close to any family or friends that could help you out when the baby is born?
  • Welcome! I'm single too. 22w 5d. We can do this :-).
  • I was single with my first and the father was never involved. Once you become a mom instinct kicks in. I was young and scared but once that baby is in your arms you just change. Life becomes about them and you do what it takes. Don't try to be super woman though. If you need help... Ask
