Make up recs?

I know we've discussed this before but I wanted to get some recs since my mom wants to use a Sephora coupon for part of my Christmas present.

I have the Naked 2 palette so I'm pretty set with eyeshadow and I tend to wear the same colors on my eyes anyway. I have a pretty good blush but I'm open to suggestions for other blushes, bb cream, eyeliner, bronzer, mascara etc. I'm pretty fair so anything that other pasties can recommend that's worked for them would be appreciated!

My budget is around $50 for her to be able to use the coupon so I'd like to be able to get the most bang for my buck. I saw a lot of value sets but I'm wary of those because I feel like I might not use it all.

There’s a lightning in your eyes I can't deny
Then there’s me inside a sinking boat running out of time
Without you I'll never make it out alive
But I know, yes, I know we’ll be alright

  • I'm a fan of the urban decay 24/7 eye pencil. I get it in Zero.

  • This is the best blush. It's really the only thing I wear. A little concealer, a few swipes of this, mascara and I'm good to go:

Disclosure: I work pt at Sephora and I am a total makeup junkie, it's my fun job!

My favorite items right now: Hourglass Ambient Lighting blush - there is also a palette with 3 blushes right now, it's so beautiful.  Otherwise, the MUFE HD Blush in 310 is beautiful on everyone - it's a cream-to-powder formula.

Finally, another all time favorite of mine is the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip & Cheek Oil. It sounds weird but it is in a tube, and I just keep it in the car and I touch up my lips and cheek when I'm in a rush and it is so effortless and beautiful and lasts.  They're only $18 and you only use a tiny bit.  Guava is my favorite.

Mascara: My most loved right now are UD Perversion or Stila Mile High Lashes, both are fantastic for volume and length and staying power.  or Benefit They're Real cannot steer you wrong, either.

My favorite BB-type product is the Dior Hydra life Pro-youth skin tint. If you are very fair, you would go with shade 1  as 2 is very golden.  Or the Nars Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is also excellent.

I love shopping for makeup, I have spent way too much in the last month!

  • Sugar makes awesome tinted lip balms. This time of year you can get sample packs (that are a really decent size) to try out multiple colours.
They are one of my favourite products.
  • My top products would be: Anastasia Brow Wiz, Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush, Too Faced Melted Lipsticks (I like nude best), and Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Concealer.

Make Up Forever just came out with over 200 shades of eyeshadows. They are absolutely beautiful. Creamy, easily blended, and pigmented.

  • I use the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. I got it a couple months ago during my Sephora makeover and it is amazing!

BareMinerals has an automatic eyeliner that I'm pretty sure is only sold at Sephora and all of the names are jewel tones. @sister13‌ would probably know the name of it. But it's one of my favorites.
I think Lasting Line or something like that?  Those are good!

@triplea598‌ what about Bare Minerals? I feel like that looks awesome on everyone.

I actually have one of their starter kits. The only thing I don't like about it is that the starter lot didn't include a liquid foundation, and I don't even know if they make liquid foundation? Otherwise I like it.
They have Bare Skin now which is a liquid. I don't know if they are including it in their starter kits yet though. I've only seen the powder foundations in the kits. I really love the matte version BM. Makes my skin look awesome even if I am breaking out!

  • @triplea598 best bet is to go in and talk with someone. They can try different foundations out and help you find a match in both colour and coverage.
  • @triplea598 - for sure go in to the store if you can, they will do a free color match and help you find something with the coverage and finish you most want for your skin type and color.  One of my favorite formulas, especially for covering breakouts are the airbrush foundations in the spray cans (Dior Airflash is expensive, but Sephora brand is also awesome and costs half as much).  Sephora has less of a color range, but if it matches, it covers flawlessly and wears well, even over breakouts - much smoother than trying to layer on concealer/foundation/powder, which sometimes just draws more attention to blemishes. They can be a little intimidating at first, but honestly, they are the fastest to apply and some of the best looking foundations on which I get the most compliments.

  • You can actually just hold it about 10 inches from your face and spray directly on (I go across forehead, down nose and chin, then kind of a c motion for temples, cheeks, jawline).

Then I just blend if needed with a soft powder brush, around the corners of your nose, etc. Some people spray it on a brush first and apply, but the finish is much nicer sprayed directly. It takes a little practice but really is easy to use once you've used it once or twice, and you can try the tester in the store to see if you like it.

Only caveat is that you want to spray before your brows and mascara because sometimes you get some on there. The Sephora collection stuff is excellent quality, just way less pricey due to less packaging, etc. Good luck, everyone should come back here and post their purchases!

  • I do more retro styled make up, but the things I've found that work well for me are:

Kat Von D tattoo liquid eye liner

Kat Von D concealer (it even covers my tattoos)

Kat Von D lipstick (I only wear red and it's fab)

    Urban Decay Subversion lash primer

    Urban Decay Perversion mascara

Nars blush (I have the hot pink and it looks so faint and natural, love!)

Too Faced Snow Bunny bronzer (it's really mild and just gives a nice glow and sheen, no orange)

    Anastasia Beverly Hills brow powder

I contour using two different shades of concealer and my base foundation is just cheap Maybelline Mousse. Eye shadows I use a bunch of different crap. I also always apply gree concealer to my acne and red spots, and use Smashbox primer. :)
