Sitting

I know there was a post about this a month or so ago, but I wanted to ask again now.  DS will be 7 months on Tuesday and he still can't sit unsupported.  Does anyone else have a LO that isn't sitting yet?  He has been able to do it for a few seconds a handful of times.

Re: Sitting

  • L doesn't want to sit. At. All. Everytime I put her in the sitting position she does not try to keep sitting. Also, she does not pull up to sit. I have to pull her up, and even then she ends up trying to stand.

My LO was 7 months this week and just started sitting this week (she still topples if she moves too much). I was starting to get worried, but it just happened kind of overnight. I'd keep working on it if I were you and give it another couple weeks. However, if you are really worried, don't feel bad about giving your pedi a call!
This same thing here. All of a sudden he could do it. I was getting worried for a bit too, but I'm sure he will be just fine! :)

  • My DS, now three, didn't sit well until he was in his seventh month. The pedi noted it at his six month appt, but didn't seem concerned. By his nine month one he had it down pat. He ended up on the late end of normal for crawling but walked and ran right on time.

  • Another non-sitter here. I noted this in the lazy lump post. DD is transitioning into wanting to crawl but has no interest in sitting. I sit her up and instantly she wants to flop on her belly to play with something on the floor (even if it's just carpet). She sometimes will sit on my lap but on the floor or bed or anywhere flat, nope! DD has a 7 month appt with a nurse since we are on a modified vac schedule so I'm going to ask when we go next week. At this point I'm not concerned.
  • DS just got it one day a few weeks after he turned 6 months. As PP said above, her baby isn't sitting but is army crawling. My son only pushes himself up with his arms but isn't anywhere near crawling. All babies are different.

This- my pedi also referenced this same fact. So no worries mama.

  • My LO can not sit up unsupported either. He likes to sit on my lap and play but if I try to sit him on his own he will fall forward or on his side in a couple seconds. He does roll like a champ and I am expecting army crawling any time now. I haven't been too worried yet., I figure he will get it soon enough.
  • Like PPs have said, my DD couldn't/wouldn't sit even when I tried to support her with the Boppy, and then all of a sudden overnight (just last week) she was able to sit up on her own, and now she can go from tummy to sitting on her own.  I bet it will just happen overnight for you as well!
