I'm so sorry for your loss. The miscarriage or pregnancy loss board is a good resource for others' experiences. I didn't have a D&C with my miscarriage, so no advice to share there.
((( hugs )))

I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't have any experience with the D&C but I can only imagine how scary that is. Be kind to yourself, I will be thinking about you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a very sad & confusing time. I had a D&E with both of my losses, which is very close to a D&C. I was put under for it, so you just wake up & it's over. After the procedure, I was a little crampy (but not in physical pain) & I had some bleeding for a few days (but not heavy). I hope it goes smoothly for you. Take care of yourself. Hugs!
First, I am so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C after a missed miscarriage my first pregnancy, was out for the procedure, had very little discomfort afterwards, and conceived my now 2 year old son 4 months after the procedure. I wish you the best in your recovery!
So sorry for your loss honey! I have no advice to give but it looks like some ladies above have. All I can say is I wish you the best with recovery and healing. Love and hugs to you in this hard time. Hopefully you have someone at home to give you the care and love you need as well ❤️
As a nurse who worked peri-op for D&Cs, you should know that they vary as to what type of anesthesia they use. Sometimes it is local (they give you a combination of oral pain meds and meds that make you kind of drowsy. You take those and they give them time to kick in before you go into the operating room), or conscious sedation (they give you IV versions of these meds), or a general-like anesthesia (where you get an IV and you are unconscious for the surgery so you don't remember anything). For any of these options, expect some mild to moderate cramping in days following and be prepared to bleed for 2-4 weeks. The actual procedure is like 15-20 minutes long, unless complications arise (which aren't typical). Make sure you follow directions as far as not eating, drinking, or smoking within a certain time frame before the surgery (to prevent complications) and do your best to rest and stay off your feet for at least 24-48 hours (or however long your body tells you to) since being active can increase cramping and bleeding. Also, don't forget to take the meds that give you afterwards (pain meds as needed and antibiotics as directed). You'll be fine, just breathe, relax, and remember to let yourself rest and heal. Also, I'd highly encourage you to join a support group in-person or online for moms who have suffered losses. T&Ps for you!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C in July (at 12 weeks) and they just gave me local medication (Xanax and 800mg Ibuprofen). I wish I had been knocked out as the most uncomfortable part of the procedure was hearing everything going on. I can tell you that I was very scared about the pain I was going to feel days leading up to the procedure, but the pain wasn't as bad as I had feared. When they dilate your cervix, you feel cramping, but it feels like a bad period. I do hope that your doctor gives you the option to be knocked out as I would have definitely preferred that for my procedure. My husband forced me out of the house two days after my procedure and we went on a pretty strenuous hike - it was a VERY bad idea. I had horrible bleeding and cramping 3 days after that. Make sure you get lots of rest, take it easy, and be kind to yourself. Thoughts and prayers to you!
For both of mine I was given general anesthesia, so I was out cold & remember/felt nothing. If you have the option, I think that's the way to go. I'm so sorry again.
Sending you a virtual hug and hand hold. I'm so sorry you're going through this. Take care of yourself. Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers. Sending you the most positive vibes.
