TTC After a Loss

***Healthy Living Check in*** 12/5/14

Hi ladies - sorry no individual check ins...again. X_X  Would anyone be willing to take this check in over? I'm feeling a little overwhelmed right now with my IVF cycle and feeling like I won't be very supportive the next few weeks. It posts Monday and Friday. If you're interested, let me know. I'd really appreciate it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a group of women striving to live healthier lives, whether that means losing weight, gaining weight, sticking to a specific diet, counting calories, avoiding counting calories, starting to exercise, continuing to exercise or anything in between.
We check in on Mondays and follow up with accountability on Fridays (our favorite post of the week, because we love encouraging each other and celebrating all our successes!).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So let's hear it - What worked well for you this week? What didn't?

If you're new jump in!

Re: ***Healthy Living Check in*** 12/5/14

  • I'll get us started today. My responses might be a little slow, I am either getting sick or my ivf meds are making me feel like crap.

    Not much healthy living this week over here. I didn't have time for the gym and had 2 work lunches. The only good thing is I only had 1 drink. (I checked with the nurse and she said 1 is fine)

  • @km380, I would love to be able to commit to taking this over but I have a crazy work schedule coming up before the holiday's and I would hate to say I can do it and then not be able to. I am so sorry :(

    AFM this week...still nothing. I am STILL coughing although it's getting better. I am sure the antibiotics helped with the upper respiratory infection and the cough/laryngitis is just a lingering thing that will be over soon.

    With that said my plan is to start Body Pump next week (or at least do my elliptical to ease myself back into things).

    So frustrated going from 8 out of 11 days of working out to not even leaving the house for over a week and a half.

    Next week is a new week :D
    I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

    I'm sorry you're still sick, I hope this is the end of it and you can start body pump next week!

  • I have been good with food this week, but haven't exercised. I feel so lazy by the time I'm done with work and choir. I know it's not a great excuse, but I leave in the dark and get home in the dark, do laundry or clean dishes and cook, and then I don't want to do anything else. And I just can't get myself out of bed before 5:30 just to exercise. No weight loss or gain, just feel bloated.
    Hope that next week is better. I am making more and more smoothies using spinach and other fruits and veggies, and less and less sugar.

  • @Km380, I'm sorry you're feeling crappy.  Good luck this cycle!!!

    Well, Week 1 of healthy living pretty much failed.  I only went to the gym on Monday.  I went Tuesday, but I couldn't get my lock open to lock up my stuff so I finally gave up and went back to work.  I didn't work out the rest of the week because we've been super busy at work (I was here till 10 last night!!!!!).  The only good thing was that I did really good drinking my 8 cups of water this week, except yesterday.

    I also found out that my company will reimburse the cost of a dietician.  How freakin' awesome is that!!!??  I may wait until the new year to go see her, but I do plan on going.

    Ready to try again next week. :)

  • @elliecat17 eating well is half the battle so it's awesome that you did well there! Don't beat yourself up too much about the working out. I know that people look at it as an excuse but going to work in the dark and getting home when it's dark just makes the day seem that much longer.

    @wellybug One day is better than no days and that is awesome about the dietician! I wish my work would do that.
    I am not sure how to say this without getting a "solicitation" warning so I guess I just say that I am not longer active on THIS site.

    I hate winter, it really makes it so hard that when you leave and get home it's dark. But you're not gaining and eating better so that's great!

    Honestly I would have given up if my lock didn't open too lol. But you worked out once and that's a first step! Very cool about the dietician. That should be interesting

  • @Km380 Thanks for the check-in!  I'm sorry you are feeling overwhelmed.  =(

    @Nikolie93 Everyone is getting sick lately!  FX that you start feeling better soon.  And good luck with Body Pump!

    @Elliecat17 Getting food on track is half of the battle!  And no gain is still good IMO.

    @wellybug At least you got the one workout in, eh?  That's awesome news about the dietician though!

    @PowerOfBacon Good job on joining the gym!  It sounds like you a great plan for the new year, that's fantastic!

    @Kellybenelly83 At least you got some workouts in this week!  Next week is a new week, you can do it!

  • My food this week was great!  I ate so many veggies.  I actually ran out of snacking veggies two days ago and I found myself really missing them yesterday.  I stocked up when I went to the store today!
    My train dirty December plan is going well, but I think I have to eliminate burpees from the plan and put something in it's place.  My ankle keeps twisting when I land and I really hurts!
    I really don't know what I'm going to replace them with though.
    Still doing pushup and situps every day!  I started at 20 regular situps, 20 situps to the right, 20 situps to the left, 20 situps with my legs elevated, and 20 pushups.  I add one every day, so now I am at 32 for each.  Not too shabby!

    @Km380 I sent you a PM, but I wanted to tell you that if you still need someone, I would love to take over for you.

  • @Km380 Thanks for the check-in.

    Well, I made it to classes at the gym 3 days, but did not get the training session at the park in with DH. It was rough getting back to work this week after a week off. So, I took a nap yesterday evening instead of working out. My body was also really sore this week from the increase of working out last week.

    We still did really well on food though. I am looking forward to running both mornings this weekend. :D

  • @Menrandes - For the T25 Focus series in place of the burpees the modifier bends at the knees and puts one leg back (like a calf stretch) and the arms over the head in line with the back.  So, your body is at a 45 degree angle with the floor with the one leg bent to hold you up.  And, I don't know if that makes any sense.  I tried to find a pic, but I'm not being very successful.  Kind of like this, but arms overhead and one leg bent under you.

    AFM: This week went well, despite having a cough the last couple days.  I still got in all of my workouts and ate relatively well.  I cut out some of the snacking and lot 1 lb that I gained over the holiday.  I'm pretty happy with that!

    Sorry for not having personal messages for everyone.  It's a busy day at work!

  • Hi @Km380!  I would love to take if over if you are feeling overwhelmed, or at least help out.

    I've actually been doing great this week.  I decided to rejoin the gym on Monday because working out outside has just gotten a little too cold, so I went on Monday and Thursday, and plan to go tomorrow morning to make it 3 days this week.  My plan is to slowly work my way up by adding in a workout each week, and then my goal for the month of January is to get in 30 minutes of exercise every day.  Hopefully I can do it!

    I also lost some of the weight I regained from the holiday, so I'm pretty happy with that.  I packed snacks and lunch every day, had a good breakfast every morning, and most I strayed away from the diet was open faced turkey sandwiches on Wednesday with pepper gravy - probably over points, but still good!

    Thanks hon! Sent you a pm.
    What a great week! Sounds awesome all around!

  • I can take over as well if you need, let me know!

    I have only done my workout 2 times this week, and I'm missing this evening for a conference but I'll make it up tomorrow. I havent been eating very well, but I'm working on it. I think I may have gained a pound.

    Still just have to work towards healthy, not focus on the number so much.
    I hope you can get in a 3rd tomorrow! Try focusing on 1 healthy eating change a week vs a whole overhaul you know?
    Thanks for the offer I had some other volunteers too.

    What veggies do you snack on? Your extra push ups and sit ups are great!! Burpees are the devil. I can't think of a good substitute for them. I think to modify them instead of jumping your feet back you could basically put one back at a time without the jump back. Geez did that even make sense?

  • Bahahaha...what went well? All of the ridiculous food I've eaten! Seriously, this week has been a mess. My hip is still causing issues - but I WILL be starting Pump on Sunday. This weekend is going to be trying to get things back on track with food.

    I hope your hip feels better soon! Shake this week off and look forward. We all have bad weeks

    @Km380 Thanks for the check-in.

    3 workouts is awesome! Hope you can get the runs in too!

    My food this week was great!

    Thanks! I pm'ed What veggies do you snack on? Your extra push ups and sit ups are great!! Burpees are the devil. I can't think of a good substitute for them. I think to modify them instead of jumping your feet back you could basically put one back at a time without the jump back. Geez did that even make sense?
    Oh yeah, definitely made sense!  I've been snacking on carrot sticks, celery, green peppers, and cucumbers.  It's funny, because I put pretty much all of those things in my salad every night, so I'm really loaded up on veggies lately!

    @Menrandes - For the T25 Focus series in place of the burpees the modifier bends at the knees and puts one leg back (like a calf stretch) and the arms over the head in line with the back.

    Woohoo losing a lb! So hard this time of year too. Hope you feel better. Lots if sickness around right now

  • @km380 - yay for volunteers!  So glad that women are willing to keep this lifeline going.

    I'm doing pretty well.  My weight is up which sucks, but I'll get there.  I was able to get mostly caught up at work this week and feel a bit more peaceful so that is a good thing.  Thanks for asking.

  • @Km380 - sorry to hear you don't feel well.

    Sorry for the P&R. Work is crazy right now.

    I lost 2.8 pounds this week, likely thanks to CD1. I struggle to eat then.

    I've started labetalol yesterday to lower my blood pressure, and it is higher than before (156/112). I called my doctor and left a message. I hope she gets back to me today.

    I'll read through everything later, but (((hugs))) to each of you.

  • Thanks for the check in! Sounds like there's been lots of successes (big and little) this week!

    My treadmill arrived, and has been put together and used twice since Wednesday. It's a manual one, so I have to work harder to make it go, which was part of the reason I chose it. With my ellipticals I used to listen to music, but this is so quiet that I can watch netflix while using it. Winning!

    Food hasn't been very good. Meetings and hectic schedules = more eating out than usual. I'm hoping that even though next week looks busy too, I can be extra efficient and make better food choices.

    This weekend will also be crazy busy, so I'm working hard at getting my step count back where I want it to be while getting stuff done. I only managed one yoga session this week, but it's one more than I did last week, so I'm counting it...

    Little changes.
