Baby is head down on cervix

Has anyone else dealt with this? I was monitored and checked by my OB in the ER for about 3 hours and she told me what his position was and that pains in my abdomin were actually pressure pains. I have an appointment Monday at my regular appointment and they are going to check me again to make sure my cervix isn't thinning. I was just wondering if anyone else who has dealt with this has any insight on how to get him to move up. Today has been a bad day, the pressure isn't easing and I'm worried he's going to move down more by the time Monday gets here. Doc said because my cervix was closed and not thinning, that I should just take it easy and they would check Monday and to come into the ER if my water breaks. Any suggestions or previous stories would be great!

  • I've had this. I found that Kegels helped after a few days of doing them.

  • "Dealt" with? It says "death"....twice. I can't get past that at this moment.

I was just about to say the same thing.

Aren't all babies supposed to be head down on the cervix at some point? I think my daughter was transverse until 28ish weeks, but after that she was head down, ready to go. I didn't know that could be worrisome. Sounds like you are being monitored, though. Hope you and LO stay healthy/there are no more concerns!
  • Thanks everyone! And I totally didn't realize I put "death" instead of "dealt" Hahaha I'm so sorry. I appreciate the suggestions and input though. (:

My baby was head down and I was having a lot of cramping on Monday. I went in to my doctor. My doctor was not concerned about the baby's position. She said it was normal.

    Hope that helps.
  • Mine is very low and definitely pressing on my cervix.  They said that because it's my second one it's just riding lower.  It's very uncomfortable though, they recommended I start wearing a support belt.

  • Head down is a great position for the baby. Though they still move around for a couple weeks. I would not worry about head down in the cervix. i would worry if there was dialation or thinning. head down on the cervix does not mean preterm labor or dialation.
