Re: Moms of three year olds

  • Yes! Mine is a wild child the past few weeks! Her teacher asked me if I was pregnant because she was acting differently and school and needs constant attention.
  • Loading the player...
  • Haha mines been wild before I got KU so I doubt if that is the reason. Tonight I went to the bathroom, came out like 3 mins later to find DD had pulled out the stuffing of the couch pillows.

  • Lol I would've been so upset! My DD has been super destructive lately also. It's like they go out of their way to ruin things!
  • I have a 2 yo and 3 yo. I have a hard time figuring out which is worse somedays. DD is definitely more difficult at 3 than she was at 2. Somehow turning 3 have her a tiny attitude and she likes to throw around the word never a lot.
  • I have an almost 2 year old and a 3.5 yr old. 3.5 yr old is the same as always (I call him a threenager) but my 2 yr old wants nothing to do with me, won't sleep, and wants to destroy eeverything and everyone.

  • I teach pre-k, with 12 young three year olds this year and 5 fours. They are all much clingier and affectionate than normal.

  • I am 6 days away from my 3 yr old turning 4 and I can't f-ing wait. This past year has been a nightmare. Like the day after his birthday he told me "I hate you."

Now his favorite thing to tell me is "I'm not your family anymore" and "I'm slamming my door/stomping my feet at you." So rude.

I've decided 4 will be better since it can't get worse. Come on December 10th!!

  • Omg I just had this conversation last night on a fb page I am on. My daughter 2 will be 4 in march and I am 8 weeks pregnant. My lovey child has turned into this thing I have no idea who it is. Fights me on EVERY THING. Went from fully potty trained, the best manners (from the south so yes maam no maam) to peeing her pants every Chace and screaming no loudly. Oy vey I feel like nothing I do works, being nice or time outs or spanking. Taking more time outs lately than she is hahaha.
  • DD is 3.5 and is generally ok but has been tough this week because she and I both have a bad cold. She is sooooo whiny this week, I canNOT handle it. DH has had to relieve me, she has been wearing my patience thin. But she is usually so good, I know it is because she doesn't feel well. I'm just not equipped to handle it because I feel awful (cold+nausea).

  • Two was NOTHING. A piece of cake. Three year olds are crazy.

Confession: I sometimes get a little scared for the moms of really young ones on here who are going to have a second baby. Like the ones with kids under a year and a half. They have some tough times ahead and they're going to have a newborn to deal with? I don't mean that in a condescending way at all-just that holy cow. It's going to be interesting. haha. And my kid is relatively "good". I have friends who have 3 years olds that marker up the walls, throw food at people, break shit to test them...it goes on.

  • DD turns into Mr. Hyde around 5:30ish. Refuses to eat dinner, "I hate...", eye rolling, foot stomping, throwing things.

Having the elf up has helped lessen this, can I keep him around all year? Or at least until she is four?

My DS fights me on everything too.  Even if I'm like "Do you want to get out of time out?", he'll stand up and yell "NO!".  It drives me nuts.  Nothing is easy anymore.  I'm just terrified it is going to get even worse.

  • @cshissell I'm with you on the 3 in Jan thing, DD is just a few days older than your DS.  She had been wonderful for the past week and last night turned into a terror.  Throwing fits over everything because she wanted the opposite - wanted to eat her dinner in the living room, no, we eat at the table, that's the house rule.  Wanted to keep wearing her costume during her bath - no, we don't do that.  Then we took her out because she screamed the whole time and she wanted to get back in the bath.  Then she wanted her costume back on. ALL. NIGHT. LONG.  She's around 3 year olds in school, so we're getting this joyousness early.

I'm also glad that she'll be 3.5 when this one comes along, because hopefully we'll all have a better handle on how to handle her.

  • Yes, my 3 year old is a pain lately. Everything is a struggle. Our pedi told us kids are either terrible at 2 or 3, and if they are terrible at 3 watch out because they know more. It's so true. I can't think of anything specific or entertaining but I want to beat my head against a wall most days.

  • Oh no.... This scares me. I have a 2 year old. I also have 8 nieces and nephews so I've been around kids a lot and always thought 3 was the worst, but my daughter is testing that theory. She has been such a brat lately. "Get off this couch. It's MY couch" At 11pm after telling me all night she wasn't hungry "Mom don't go to sleep! Get up and make me eggs!" and yes... I said 11pm. Because who needs sleep when they're 2!? I feel like she always does the opposite of what I say. I'm really hoping her terrible 3's have combined with the terrible 2s and she gets better soon!

LOL No don't panic! At least he's adorable. It's just...hard. Haha. I have a friend who has 3 kids ages 5 and under and is pregnant with #4, due in March. She just takes it all in stride. I don't think it's as hard for some people as others. I hope it's not ;)

  • My SD turned 4 in October. I always said 'terrible twos were cupcakes', seemed like threes were torturous and I'm hoping for forgiving fours - however it seems more like she's in a 'forget about it fours'. She's so sassy and bossy and whiny and is quick to either tell me, "you suck" or "you're not my mom." Drives me nuts. I thought DH was going to lose it when she told him he sucked! He washed her mouth out with soap.

  • My 3 year old tyrant is a sass ball all day every day. Does.not.stop.I'm toasting to all of us with my glass of milk. God help us ladies!
  • My 3.5 year old is the same. He's been a complete nightmare. He's one of those crazy active boys who climbs on things and plays baseball in the house, but has ALWAYS slept well...probably because he wore himself out all day. I mean I could get a nice 3 hour nap in the middle of the day and then sleep through the night at 8:30. NOW he is literally up all night asking for different things. He wants another kiss, wants me to tuck in his bear, wants a glass if water...blah blah blah. It is a constant battle to get him to sleep and even naps have been almost nonexistent. My parents are here for the weekend and I just heard him (at 5:00 in the morning) sneek into their bed. When I got up to tell him to go back to his bed he turned to my dad and said, "Pop, can you get her out of here, she's making me mad." Lovely.
